Long Point State Park – Finger Lakes
Long Point State Park (in the Finger Lakes) is a state park located on the east shore of Cayuga Lake. The park is in the Town of Ledyard in Cayuga County, New York. Park description The park offers a playground, picnic tables, hunting, fishing, hiking and a boat launch. A cottage is available for rent along the lake's shore. There is a $7 fee to park a car or launch a boat. Long Point State Park trail system In the Fall of 2013, community volunteers, with the approval of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, developed a new trail system on the east side of New York Route 90, which divides the formerly undeveloped inland section of the park from the waterfront section. The new trail system features secluded picnic tables and hilltop views of Cayuga Lake. A section of the trail system runs along the top of a small gorge. Aurora, Cayuga County, New York
Aurora, or Aurora-on-Cayuga, is a village and college town in the town of Ledyard, Cayuga County, New York, United States, on the shore of Cayuga Lake. The village had a population of 724 at the 2010 census. Wells College, an institution of higher education for women founded by Henry Wells in 1868, is located in Aurora. It became coeducational in 2005, and since then enrollment has risen. Cayuga Lake
Cayuga Lake (,,) is the longest of central New York's glacial Finger Lakes, and is the second largest in surface area (marginally smaller than Seneca Lake) and second largest in volume. It is just under long. Its average width is , and it is at its widest point, near Aurora. It is approximately at its deepest point, and has over of shoreline. The lake is named after the indigenous Cayuga people. Location The city of Ithaca, site of Ithaca College and Cornell University, is located at the southern end of Cayuga Lake. Ledyard, New York
Ledyard is a town in Cayuga County, New York, United States. The population was 1,654 at the 2020 census. The name of the town is from General Benjamin Ledyard, an early settler of the town. Ledyard is on the western edge of the county and is southwest of Auburn. Wells College, founded as a college for women, is in the village of Aurora. History The south part of Ledyard was in the Central New York Military Tract, and the northern part was a reservation designated for the Cayuga tribe. The first settlers arrived around 1789. The town of Ledyard was founded in 1823 from part of the town of Scipio. The North Street Friends Meetinghouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. New York Route 90
New York State Route 90 (NY 90) is a north–south state highway in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. All but five of the route's are located in Cayuga County, with the remaining situated in Cortland County. The southern terminus of the route is at an intersection with U.S. Route 11 (US 11) and NY 41 in the village of Homer. Its northern terminus is at a junction with NY 31 in the town of Montezuma. Although the route is signed as north–south, the portion of NY 90 from King Ferry to Homer follows an east–west alignment. It is not to be confused with Interstate 90 (I-90), which also passes through Montezuma.
