Long Dark Night
''Long Dark Night'' ( hr, Duga mračna noć) is a 2004 Croatian film dealing with World War II in Croatia and its aftermath. It was directed by Antun Vrdoljak and starred Goran Višnjić. It was Croatia's submission to the 77th Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not accepted as a nominee. The film was also adapted into a 13-episode TV series broadcast by the Croatian Radiotelevision in 2005. Antun Vrdoljak
Antun Vrdoljak (; born 5 June 1931) is a Croatian film actor and director, sports official, and head of Croatian Radiotelevision during the Yugoslav Wars. Between the 1960s and early 1990s he was mainly a film artist. In the early 1990s he became involved in politics and became a prominent member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), which led to his appointment to a series of offices. He was director general of Croatian Radiotelevision (1991–1995), and president of the Croatian Olympic Committee (1991–2000). Life Born in Imotski, Vrdoljak studied acting at the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art. His acting debut was in a 1957 film ''It Was Not in Vain'' by Nikola Tanhofer. ''Hrvatska radiotelevizija'' (abbr. HRT), or Croatian Radiotelevision, is Croatia's public broadcasting company. Žarko Potočnjak
Žarko Potočnjak (3 February 1946 – 21 October 2021) was a Croatian theatre, television and film actor. Potočnjak graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art in 1972. Upon graduation he was hired as a regular member at the ''Komedija'' and '' Gavella'' theatres in Zagreb, and since 1994 he has been a member of cast at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Apart from his work in theatre, Potočnjak has appeared in about 30 television series and a number of film productions since the 1970s. In 1983, he married actress Asja Jovanović, with whom he has a daughter Mirna. During the Croatian War of Independence he served with the 106th Croatian Army brigade based in Osijek.
