"Lonely Women Make Good Lovers" is a song written by Freddy Weller and Spooner Oldham, and first recorded by American country music artist Bob Luman. Luman's version was the second single from his 1972 album of the same name. He released the single on August 2, 1972, and it debuted on the Hot Country Singles (now Hot Country Songs) charts in September, spending nineteen weeks on it and peaking at number 4. Weller released his version of the song on his October 1972 album, ''The Roadmaster''. In December 1983, Steve Wariner covered the song for his album ''Midnight Fire ''Midnight Fire'' is the second studio album by American country music artist Steve Wariner. Bob Luman
Robert Glynn Luman (April 15, 1937 – December 27, 1978) was an American country and rockabilly singer-songwriter. Early life and career Luman was born in Blackjack, Texas, United States, though was raised in Nacogdoches, Texas. His early interest in music was influenced by his father, an amateur fiddle, guitar and harmonica player. Bob Luman received his first guitar when he was thirteen years of age. Luman attended high school in Kilgore, where the family had moved after young Bob's birth and started his first band while in high school. Luman had been a baseball star at his high school and tried out with the Major League Baseball Pittsburgh Pirates, but when he did not make it in professional baseball, he decided to concentrate on his music.
