The London county football team represents London in men's Gaelic football and is governed by London GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Connacht Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. London's home ground is McGovern Park, South Ruislip, Oxley Park, Watford. The team's manager is Michael Maher. London defeated Sligo to reach the Connacht Senior Championship final in 2013, but has never won the All-Ireland Senior Championship or the National League. Tony Grealish
Anthony Patrick Grealish (21 September 1956 – 23 April 2013) was a professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Born in England to Irish parents, he represented the Republic of Ireland at international level. Career Born in Paddington, London, Grealish played club football for Leyton Orient, Luton Town, Brighton & Hove Albion, West Bromwich Albion, Manchester City, Rotherham United, Walsall and Bromsgrove Rovers. Grealish captained Brighton in the 1983 FA Cup Final. He represented the Republic of Ireland at international level, captaining his country 17 times, scoring 8 goals in 45 appearances between 1976 and 1985. Lorcan Mulvey
Lorcan Mulvey is a Gaelic footballer. He has played club football for Butlersbridge and also played for the Cavan county team at all levels. He played for the Cavan senior team for eight years until 2010. Since moving to London he has transferred to Fulham Irish and played for the London county team. On 26 May 2013, he scored the vital goal that gave London a 1-12 - 0-14 victory over Sligo - their first victory in the competition since 1977. The 2011 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 125th edition of the GAA's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament, played between 31 counties of Ireland (excluding Kilkenny who only take part in the hurling championship), London and New York. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. The rules of overtime or extra time vary between sports and even different competitions. Some may employ " sudden death", where the first player or team who scores immediately wins the game. 2001 United Kingdom Foot-and-mouth Outbreak
The outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the United Kingdom in 2001 caused a crisis in British agriculture and tourism. This epizootic saw 2,000 cases of the disease in farms across most of the British countryside. Over 6 million cows and sheep were killed in an eventually successful attempt to halt the disease. Cumbria was the worst affected area of the country, with 893 cases. With the intention of controlling the spread of the disease, public rights of way across land were closed by order. This damaged the popularity of the Lake District as a tourist destination and led to the cancellation of that year's Cheltenham Festival, as well as the British Rally Championship for the 2001 season and delaying that year's general election by a month.
