London Legacy Development Corporation
The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) is an organisation established in 2012, replacing the Olympic Park Legacy Company. It was formed as a mayoral development corporation under the powers of the Localism Act 2011. The ''mayoral development area'' covered by the development corporation is the Olympic Park and surrounding areas. Costs associated with London Stadium In November 2016, London Mayor Sadiq Khan ordered an investigation into the rising costs for the London Stadium, which the LLDC partly owns. Leadership Roles On 2 November 2016, David Edmonds resigned as Chair of LLDC having served in that position since September 2015. Sir Peter Hendy was appointed as Chair in July 2017. In August 2017, David Goldstone resigned from his role as Chief Executive of LLDC having served for three years. Lyn Garner was appointed as the new Chief Executive in December 2017. Pam Alexander
Pam Alexander OBE (born April 1954) is a businesswoman and former senior civil servant specialising in housing and economic regeneration in England. She chairs a digital community engagement company, Commonplace, and is a non-executive Director of the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and of the Connected Places Catapult. Until recently she was chair of the Covent Garden Market Authority, a Trustee of the Design Council and Chair of Design Council CABE. She was Chief Executive of the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) from 2004–2011, and of the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England (English Heritage) from 1997 to 2001. The 2012 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad and also known as London 2012) was an international multi-sport event held from 27 July to 12 August 2012 in London, England, United Kingdom. Julian Benjamin Pipe (born May 1965) is a British politician who currently serves as the Deputy Mayor of London for Planning, Regeneration and Skills. The London Borough of Newham is a London borough created in 1965 by the London Government Act 1963. It covers an area previously administered by the Essex county boroughs of West Ham and East Ham, authorities that were both abolished by the same act. Rokhsana Fiaz (born December 1971) is a Labour Party politician serving as Mayor of Newham. Fiaz was elected as a Councillor for the Newham ward of Custom House in 2014. Ahead of the 2018 Mayoral election, following protracted disagreements within the local party, the incumbent Labour Mayor of Newham (and the first directly elected Mayor of Newham) Sir Robin Wales was not automatically re-selected as the Labour Party's candidate. In the open selection that followed, Fiaz defeated Wales for the Labour nomination by 861 votes to 503. Fiaz was subsequently elected Mayor in May 2018, receiving 73.4% of the first preference votes (53,214 votes). She is the first directly elected female mayor for any London borough. Geoff Thompson (karateka)
Geoff Thompson is a British karate fighter. He is the winner of multiple European Karate Championships and World Karate Championships medals. Thompson was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 1995 New Year Honours for services to sport, particularly karate. He is the founder and executive chair of the Youth Charter, a charity established in 1993. Carys Davina Grey-Thompson, Baroness Grey-Thompson, (born 26 July 1969), known as Tanni Grey-Thompson, is a Welsh politician, television presenter and former wheelchair racer. Athletic career Grey-Thompson's Paralympic career started in the 100m at the Junior National Games for Wales in 1984. Her international career began in 1988 in Seoul, where she won a bronze medal in the 400m. As a young athlete she also competed in wheelchair basketball. Her fifth and last Paralympic Games were in Athens (2004) where she won two gold medals in wheelchair racing in the 100m and 400m. In total in her Paralympic career she won 16 medals (11 gold, four silver and a bronze) and also 13 World Championship medals (six gold, five silver and two bronze).
