London is an English four-piece punk band formed in London in 1976, best known for their wild stage act.Napier-Bell, Simon (2001) ''Black Vinyl White Powder'', Ebury Press, , p. 163 The original line-up was Riff Regan (vocals), Steve Voice (bass guitar), Jon Moss (drums) and Dave Wight (guitar). They were managed by Simon Napier-Bell and recorded two singles, a four-track EP and an album for MCA Records in 1977. Most of their songs were written by Riff Regan (including the first two singles "Everyone's a Winner" and "Summer of Love") or by Regan and Steve Voice. All their records were produced by Napier-Bell at the IBC Studios in London. After an absence of more than 30 years the band returned to live performance, and subsequently released the album ''Reboot'' in 2012. Culture Club are an English pop band formed in London in 1981. The band comprises Boy George (lead vocals), Roy Hay (guitar and keyboards), Mikey Craig (bass guitar) and formerly included Jon Moss (drums and percussion). Emerging in the New Romantic scene, they are considered one of the most representative and influential groups of the 1980s. "Friday on My Mind" is a 1966 song by Australian rock group the Easybeats. Written by band members George Young and Harry Vanda, the track became a worldwide hit, reaching no. 16 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in May 1967 in the US, no. 1 on the Dutch Top 40 chart, no. 1 in Australia and no. 6 in the UK, as well as charting in several other countries. Colin Larkin (writer)
Colin Larkin (born 1949) is a British writer and entrepreneur. He founded, and was the editor-in-chief of, the ''Encyclopedia of Popular Music'', described by ''The Times'' as "the standard against which all others must be judged". Along with the ten-volume encyclopedia, Larkin also wrote the book ''All Time Top 1000 Albums'', and edited the ''Guinness Who's Who of Jazz'', the ''Guinness Who's Who of Blues'', and the ''Virgin Encyclopedia Of Heavy Rock''. He has over 650,000 copies in print to date. Background and education Larkin was born in Dagenham, Essex. Larkin spent much of his early childhood attending the travelling fair where his father, who worked by day as a plumber for the council, moonlighted on the waltzers to make ends meet. The album contained all the band's singles - "Everyone's A Winner", "Summer of Love" and "Animal Games" although the mix of "Everyone's a Winner" is different from the single version. The catalogue number was MCA MCF 2823. The album was also released on music cassette TC - MCF 2823. In 1997 Captain Oi! Records released a 'best of London' CD called ''London The Punk Rock Collection'' that contains all the tracks to be found on ''Animal Games''. Holly And The Italians
Holly Beth Vincent (born Holly Beth Cernuto in 1956) is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. In her youth Vincent sang and played drums and guitar in several bands and took part in the Los Angeles punk scene. In 1978, she formed Holly and the Italians and moved to London, England, where the band was welcomed by the British press and gained a recording contract with Virgin Records on the strength of the single " Tell That Girl to Shut Up". Holly and the Italians' debut album '' The Right to Be Italian'' had a troubled and long production and was a commercial failure, which led to the band's dissolution at the end of 1980, after a US tour supporting The Clash and the Ramones. Vincent recorded under her name the album '' Holly and the Italians'' in the UK and was then deported to the US by the British authorities. Metro were an English rock band, featuring Peter Godwin (singer), Peter Godwin (vocals, saxophone, synthesizer), Duncan Browne (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Sean Lyons (guitar). The band is best known for their song "Criminal World", which was covered by David Bowie on his 1983 album, ''Let's Dance (David Bowie album), Let's Dance''. History Godwin and Browne, who had both enjoyed modest success as solo artists in the early 1970s, formed Metro in 1976 and were later joined by Lyons. ''Birds of a Feather'' is a British sitcom originally broadcast on BBC One from 16 October 1989 to 24 December 1998, then revived on ITV from 2 January 2014 to 24 December 2020. The series stars Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson, with Lesley Joseph, created by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, who also wrote many of the episodes.
