The Logie for Most Popular Entertainment Program is an award presented annually at the Australian TV Week Logie Awards. It recognises the popularity of an Australian light entertainment program from various formats including comedy, talent, variety, music, talk, and traditional game shows. It was first awarded at the 28th Annual TV Week Logie Awards, held in 1986 when the award was originally called Most Popular Australian Light Entertainment Program. Over the years, it has been known as Most Popular Light Entertainment Program (1987–1988, 1993–2014), Most Popular Light Entertainment or Comedy Program (1989–1992), Most Popular Entertainment Program (2015) and Best Entertainment Program (2016-2017). From 2018, the award category name was reverted to Most Popular Light Entertainment Program. The Logie Awards (officially the TV Week Logie Awards; colloquially known as The Logies) is an annual gathering to celebrate Australian television, sponsored and organised by the magazine ''TV Week''. The first ceremony was held in 1959 as the TV Week Awards. Awards are presented in twenty categories, representing both public and industry voted prizes. The Gold Logie is the most prestigious award and the industry's highest honour; it's awarded to the ''Most Popular Personality on Australian Television'' for the previous year. The award receives much publicity and media attention. The event has been strongly associated with the Nine Network, who have hosted the ceremony on the most occasions, and TV and former radio personality Bert Newton, particularly in the early days, who served as a solo host of the ceremony on 17 occasions, with a constant run from 1966 until 1980 and as co-host on three other occasions. Battle Of The Sexes (TV Series)
The ''Battle of the Sexes'' is a game where male and female contestants challenge each other on trivia questions. The principle of the game is to demonstrate the imbalance between male and female genders as they compete. The concept was created by Perth radio announcer Paul Redman. The game initially began as a regular call-in radio contest, whereby one male and one female contestant would compete answering trivia questions. A leaderboard by gender was kept from day-to-day. The concept spread to Austereo's affiliated radio stations across Australia, including FOX FM's Tracy Bartram and Matt Tilley. The segment became a daily staple of the 2Day FM Morning Crew with Wendy Harmer. In 1998, the concept was adapted into a short-lived television show on Network Ten hosted by Ed Phillips.
