Logi Bergmann Eiðsson
Logi Bergmann Eiðsson (born 2 December 1966) is an Icelandic television host, news anchor and reporter. He worked for the public broadcaster Sjónvarpið before his move to private channel Stöð 2 in 2005. He later started work at Sjónvarp Símans in 2017. Eiðsson started his career in media as a reporter for the newspaper ''Þjóðviljinn'', and later for ''Morgunblaðið''. Eiðsson was a sports correspondent, and later news reporter, anchor, producer and deputy head of news for Sjónvarpið, in addition to hosting the quiz show ''Gettu betur'' for six years. He started a quiz show called ''spurningabomban on stöð tvö''. After his move to Sjónvarp Símans he started a show called ''með Loga''. In 2002, Eiðsson applied for the position of head of news at Sjónvarpið, but lost to his fellow deputy Elín Hirst. Eiðsson said at the time that the hiring process was highly political. Elín Stefánsdóttir Hirst (born 4 September 1960) is an Icelandic politician, and a former member of the Althing from 2013 to 2016. Elín is a former journalist, television personality, published author, documentary filmmaker and anchor. She was Head of News of Icelandic public television channel Sjónvarpið from 2002 to 2008. ''DV'' (''Dagblaðið Vísir'') is an online newspaper in Iceland published by Torg ehf. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged. Early on it was one of the largest newspapers in Iceland and at one point had a 64% readership in Iceland. In the 1990s its readership started to dwindle and in 2003 its publisher was declared bankrupt. It was resurrected a week later by the publisher of Fréttablaðið. In 2006 it was changed from a daily newspaper into a weekly one. Since then it has changed publishers regularly and in 2018 its publisher, DV ehf., went bankrupt. History ''Morgunblaðið'' was founded by Vilhjálmur Finsen and Ólafur Björnsson, brother of Iceland's first president. The first issue, only eight pages long, was published on 2 November 1913. Sjónvarp Símans ( en, The Phone's Television), formerly SkjárEinn (ScreenOne), is an Icelandic television channel owned by Síminn. Sjónvarp Símans broadcasts both Icelandic and foreign television shows. Since its foundation in 1999 it has aired crime, drama, reality and comedy television series. It is distributed by analogue over-the-air broadcast signal and also digitally via Síminn and Vodafone IPTV and Vodafone Digital Ísland. Sjónvarp Símans used to be free to anyone living in Iceland but switched to a premium subscription channel in 2009. In 2015, after Skipti, the former parent company of Síminn and Skjárinn, merged with Síminn, the channel switched to a mixed subscription model. ''Gettu betur'' () is an Icelandic team quiz show, broadcast on public television channel RÚV. Each team consists of three students from one of Iceland's high schools or colleges. Two teams play against each other in each episode. Two preliminary rounds are broadcast on radio station Rás 2, followed by televised quarter-final, semi-final and final rounds on ''RÚV''. Thirty schools participated in the 2011 season. The current host is Kristjana Arnarsdóttir. ''Gettu betur'' was first held in 1986. Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík has won the contest 20 times overall, first in 1988, and then eleven times in a row, from 1993 to 2003, from 2007 to 2010 and in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
