Logan Davidson
Logan Douglas Davidson (born December 26, 1997) is an American professional baseball shortstop in the Oakland Athletics organization. He played college baseball at Clemson University before the Athletics selected him in the first round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. Amateur career Davidson attended Providence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2016, '' The Charlotte Observer'' named him their high school baseball player of the year. He enrolled at Clemson University, where he played college baseball for the Clemson Tigers. In 2017 and 2018, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Professional career The Oakland Athletics selected Davidson in the first round, with the 29th overall selection, of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. Shortstop
Shortstop, abbreviated SS, is the baseball or softball fielding position between second and third base, which is considered to be among the most demanding defensive positions. Historically the position was assigned to defensive specialists who were typically poor at batting and were often placed at the bottom of the batting order. Today, shortstops are often able to hit well and many are placed at the top of the lineup. In the numbering system used by scorers to record defensive plays, the shortstop is assigned the number 6. More hit balls go to the shortstop than to any other position, as there are more right-handed hitters in baseball than left-handed hitters, and most hitters have a tendency to pull the ball slightly. Spring training is the preseason in Major League Baseball (MLB), a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. Spring training allows new players to try out for Schedule (workplace), roster and position spots, and gives established players practice time prior to competitive play. Mark Davidson
John Mark Davidson (born February 15, 1961), is a former professional baseball player who played outfielder in the Major Leagues from 1986–1991. He played for the Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros. Davidson graduated in 1978 from Garinger High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. He played baseball for the UNC Charlotte in 1979 and 1980, and then transferred to Clemson University, where he played in 1982. He was drafted by the Twins in the 11th round of the 1982 amateur draft. In 1987, he played in 102 games and had a .267 batting average. He was a member of the Twins team that won the 1987 World Series. He currently lives in Seneca, South Carolina. Pacific Coast League
The Pacific Coast League (PCL) is a Minor League Baseball league that operates in the Western United States. Along with the International League, it is one of two leagues playing at the Triple-A (baseball), Triple-A level, which is one grade below Major League Baseball (MLB). The PCL was one of the premier regional baseball leagues in the first half of the 20th century. Although it was never recognized as a true major league, to which it aspired, its quality of play was considered very high. Triple-A (officially Class AAA) has been the highest level of play in Minor League Baseball in the United States since 1946. Currently, two sports league, leagues operate at the Triple-A level, the International League (IL) and the Pacific Coast League (PCL). There are 30 teams, one per each Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise, with 20 in the IL and 10 in the PCL. The Las Vegas Aviators, formerly known as the Las Vegas 51s and Las Vegas Stars, are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. The Arizona Fall League (AFL) is an off-season sports league owned and operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) which operates during the autumn in Arizona, United States, at six different baseball complexes. Arizona Fall League rosters are filled by many of the top prospects in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) who are assigned by their parent clubs. Structure The six teams of the AFL are organized in two three-team divisions. Each AFL team is affiliated with five teams in Major League Baseball (MLB), and each MLB team provides seven players from their Minor League Baseball affiliates, yielding 35-man rosters.
