Department Of Airports (Thailand)
The Department of Airports (DOA) ( th, กรมท่าอากาศยาน) is a Thai government department under the Ministry of Transport. It operates 28 civil airports throughout the country. The department was split off from the Department of Civil Aviation in 2015, part of a restructuring response to ICAO's downgrading of Thailand's aviation safety rating. The other agency that previously formed part of the old department is the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. Operations Only 17 DOA airports turned a profit between 2009 and 2016 while the total number of passengers jumped 25 percent. In 2018, DOA's revenues from its 28 airports was 853 million baht. Krabi airport alone contributed 469 million baht. Udon Thani is also in the black, with profits reaching 100 million baht a year. Mueang Loei District
Mueang Loei ( th, เมืองเลย; ) is the capital district ('' amphoe mueang'') of Loei province, northeastern Thailand. Location Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise): Chiang Khan, Pak Chom, Na Duang, Erawan, Wang Saphung, Phu Ruea, and Tha Li of Loei Province. The important water resource is the Loei River. History The district was one of the five original districts of Loei Province established in 1897 during the ''thesaphiban'' administrative reforms. Asphalt, also known as bitumen (, ), is a sticky, black, highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. It may be found in natural deposits or may be a refined product, and is classed as a pitch. Before the 20th century, the term asphaltum was also used. Loei
Loei (; ) is a town (''thesaban mueang'') in northeast Thailand. Loei covers the whole ''tambon'' of Mueang Loei district and is the capital of Loei province. In 2017, Loei had a population of 21,013. Loei lies 545 km north-northeast of Bangkok, 150 km west of Udon Thani. Geography Loei is in the fertile valley of the Loei River, which runs from south to north through the eastern part of the town. A range of hills lies to the east, including Phu Bo Bit Forest Park, about from the town centre. Climate Loei has a tropical savanna climate (Köppen climate classification ''Aw''). Winters are quite dry and very warm. Temperatures rise until April, which is hot with the average daily maximum at . The monsoon season is from late April to October, with heavy rain and somewhat cooler temperatures during the day, although nights remain warm. Nok Air (, th, นกแอร์, derived from ''nok'' (นก), the Thai word for ''bird'') is a low-cost airline in Thailand operating mostly domestic services out of Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport. Thai Airways International owns the fourth-largest stake in the airline. History Nok Air was established in February 2004 under Sky Asia Co., Ltd. and started operations on 23 July 2004. As of March 2007, it had 130 employees and had reached around 1,400 employees by 2014. Nok Air began its first international service on 31 May 2007, with daily flights to Bangalore, India, but suspended these flights in 2020. Nok Air serves the largest number of domestic routes within Thailand, with 24 routes. Don Mueang International Airport ( th, ท่าอากาศยานดอนเมือง, , , or colloquially as , ) is one of two international airports serving the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, the other one being Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Before Suvarnabhumi opened in 2006, Don Mueang was previously known as Bangkok International Airport ( th, ท่าอากาศยานกรุงเทพ, ). The airport is considered to be one of the world's oldest international airports and Asia's oldest operating airport. THAI Smile Airways is a Thai regional airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Thai Airways International headquartered in Bangkok. History On 20 May 2011, the Thai Airways board announced plans to create a new lower-cost airline, at the time dubbed Thai Wings. The creation of the airline was announced by Ampon Kittiampon, the chairman of Thai's board of directors, on 19 August 2011. It is planned to begin operations in July 2012.
