Andrew Loder
Andrew Loder (14 February 1826 – 19 May 1900) was an Australian politician. He was born at Sackville Reach near Windsor to farmer George Loder and Mary Howe. He worked on his father's properties, and on 14 April 1841 married Elizabeth Sarah Evans; they had no children. In 1859, the year he acquired his own holdings in New England, he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Liverpool Plains, but he resigned in 1860. He bred sheep, cattle and racehorses, and was involved with Randwick Racecourse's foundation. Loder died at Liverpool Liverpool is a city and metropolitan borough in Merseyside, England. John De Vere Loder
John de Vere Loder, 2nd Baron Wakehurst, (5 February 1895 – 30 October 1970) was a British Army officer, politician and colonial administrator. After serving in the army, the Foreign Office, and as a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons, Wakehurst was appointed as the last British Governor of New South Wales, which he held from 1937 to 1946. Upon returning to Britain he was appointed Governor of Northern Ireland from 1952 to 1964. He was made a Knight of the Order of the Garter in 1962 and died in 1970. Robert Loder
Robert Beauclerk Loder, (24 April 1934 – 22 July 2017) was an English businessman and art collector. He was particularly concerned in developing contemporary African art. Biography Loder was the son of John Loder, 2nd Baron Wakehurst and his wife Margaret Tennant, daughter of Sir Charles Tennant, 1st Baronet. He was educated at Eton College and Cambridge University. From 1957 to 1966 he was employed by the Anglo American Corporation in Johannesburg and Lusaka. While in Johannesburg he helped run Union Artists, a black theatre group that played to mixed audiences in apartheid South Africa. In 1959 he founded the African Arts Trust, which supports black artists from South Africa. When he returned to London, Loder became treasurer of the Institute of Contemporary Arts and later its chairman in the 1970s. Sir Robert Loder, 1st Baronet, DL, JP (7 August 1823 – May 1888) was an English landowner, magistrate and Conservative politician. Biography Early life Robert Loder was born on 7 August 1823 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His father was Giles Loder (1786–1871) of Wilsford near Salisbury in Wiltshire, and his mother, Elizabeth Higgbotham (unknown-1848), daughter of John Higgbotham, of Saint Petersburg. He was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Inheritance He inherited a considerable fortune from his father and had extensive estates in Northamptonshire and Sussex as well as in Russia and Sweden. Career He was a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for Sussex and a JP for Northamptonshire. In 1877, he served as the High Sheriff of Sussex. Sir Louis Francis Loder (30 December 189611 February 1972) was a senior Australian public servant and policymaker. He was head of the Department of Works between 1945 and his retirement in 1961. Life and career Louis Loder was born in Sale, Victoria on 30 December 1896. Loder served in the Australian Imperial Force during the First World War. Between 1928 and 1940, Loder was Chief Engineer at the Victorian Country Roads Board. He then went on to work for Allied Works between 1940 and 1945. In 1945, Loder was appointed to be Director-General of the newly established Department of Works (later Department of Works and Housing and then Department of Works (II)). In these roles, Loder was responsible for the design, costing, supervision and execution of all architectural and engineering works for the Australian Government. A swingman born in Cassopolis, Michigan, Loder played in three NBA seasons from 1981 to 1984. He played for the Kings and San Diego Clippers.
