Locust Point (also Pirate Cove) is a small, peninsular neighborhood in the south eastern portion of the New York City borough of the Bronx. It is bounded by Harding Avenue on the north, the Throgs Neck Bridge to the east, and Eastchester Bay. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community District 10. Area code 917 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan for the five boroughs of New York City: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. WEPN (AM)
WEPN (1050 kHz) is an all-sports AM radio station licensed to New York, New York. The station is owned-and-operated by Good Karma Brands and its transmitter site is located in North Bergen, New Jersey. The 1050 AM facility in New York signed on in 1922 as WHN. For the majority of its existence under these call letters, as well as during its 14-year stint as WMGM, the station broadcast several different music-based formats, finally assuming a country music format in 1973. In 1987, WHN dropped its country format to become the first radio station dedicated entirely to sports programming, changing its call letters to WFAN. Michael Kay (born February 2, 1961) is an American sports broadcaster who is the television play-by-play broadcaster of the New York Yankees and host of ''CenterStage'' on the YES Network, and the host of ''The Michael Kay Show'' heard on WEPN-FM in New York City (which began being simulcast on the YES Network in February 2014) and simulcast on ESPN Xtra on XM Satellite Radio. Early life and education Kay was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. A fan of the Yankees, Kay wore number 1 in Little League for his favorite player, Bobby Murcer. Wanting to be the Yankees announcer when he grew up, he did all the school reports that he could about the Yankees, so he could know all about them. Eastchester Bay
Eastchester Bay is a sound between City Island and the mainland Bronx in New York City, New York. Technically, it is not a bay, since it is open to larger bodies of water at both ends. The northern end connects via a narrow channel to Pelham Bay (which is also really a sound, since it, in turn, opens onto Long Island Sound). The Hutchinson River empties into Eastchester Bay near the northern end. The lower portion of the bay opens onto the East River, Little Neck Bay, and Long Island Sound. Eastchester Bay is designated an Essential Fish Habitat by the National Marine Fisheries Service. Many yacht clubs and marinas line the bay on both sides, leading to a high level of recreational boating traffic. Throgs Neck Bridge
The Throgs Neck Bridge is a suspension bridge in New York City, carrying six lanes of Interstate 295 (New York), Interstate 295 (I-295) over the East River where it meets the Long Island Sound. The bridge connects the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx with the Bay Terrace, Queens, Bay Terrace section of Queens. Opened on January 11, 1961, it is the newest bridge across the East River and was built to relieve traffic on the Bronx–Whitestone Bridge, to the west. The Throgs Neck Bridge is also the easternmost crossing of the East River.
