George Lockwood
George Lockwood (born 6 December 1872, date of death unknown) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club and Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was originally from the Geelong area, but came to the VFL from the East Fremantle Football Club. Family The sons of Thomas Lockwood (1821-1876), and Charlotte Lockwood (1843-1884), née Chambers (later Mrs. William Moorhouse Hardman), George Lockwood and his twin brother Edward Lockwood (1872–1953) were born at Geelong on 6 December 1872. Lockwood Smith
Sir Alexander Lockwood Smith (born 13 November 1948) is a New Zealand politician and diplomat who was High Commissioner of New Zealand to the United Kingdom from 2013 to 2017, and Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2008 to 2013. Smith is a member of the New Zealand National Party and served as a Member of Parliament (MP) from 1984 until his retirement to pursue diplomatic roles in 2013. He represented first the Kaipara electorate and then Rodney, and has held a number of Cabinet positions; he was Minister of Education from 1990 to 1996 and subsequently served as Minister of Agriculture, Minister for International Trade, and Associate Minister of Finance. The black, white and blue silver fern flag is a proposed flag for New Zealand by architectural designer Kyle Lockwood. It was first designed using different colours in 2000. It was voted as the preferred alternative New Zealand flag in the first of two 2015–2016 New Zealand flag referendums, New Zealand flag referendums in December 2015, and was used in the second flag referendum in a binding contest against the Flag of New Zealand, current New Zealand flag. Despite a UMR poll predicting that the flag would earn only 35% of the vote, the Silver Fern Flag gained a significant minority in the March 2016 referendum with 43.2% of the vote, whilst the existing flag won with 56.6% of the vote. Kyle Simon Lockwood JP (born 1977) is a New Zealand architectural designer based in Melbourne, Australia. He is known for leading the successful campaign for the Government of New Zealand to reintroduce the duration of the New Zealand passport to ten years, and for designing the two flags that came first and second, in the first New Zealand flag referendum. He also successfully lobbied for the introduction of the popular 18+ (now Kiwi Access) card. Lockwood's Silver Fern Flag design was voted in as the official Preferred Alternative New Zealand Flag in the first referendum, in March 2016 the existing Flag of New Zealand won the second referendum. Julia Belden Lockwood (June 30, 1881 – January 3, 1976) was an American socialite and philanthropist. She was one of the Lockwood family members who donated family heirlooms to create the Norwalk Historical Society Museum. Early life and education Lockwood was from Norwalk, Connecticut, the daughter of Frederick St. John Lockwood and Caroline Ayres Lockwood. Sir Joseph Flawith Lockwood (14 November 1904 – 6 March 1991), was a British industrialist and businessman, whose initial reputation was as an executive of a flour milling company. Later, as chairman of EMI between 1954 and 1974, he oversaw the company's expansion in the music business, and the signing and marketing of acts including The Beatles. He was knighted in 1960. Henry Hayes Lockwood (August 17, 1814 – December 7, 1899) was an American soldier and academic from Delaware who rose to the rank of Brigadier General during the American Civil War and captured the Delmarva Peninsula including Virginia's Eastern Shore and headed the Union Middle Department in Baltimore before returning to academic life at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Harold A. Lockwood (April 12, 1887 – October 19, 1918) was an American silent film actor, director, and producer. He was one of the most popular matinee idols of the early film period during the 1910s. Early life and career Born in Brooklyn, Lockwood was raised and educated in Newark, New Jersey.
