Locke Olson
Locke Morford Olson (December 10, 1926August 20, 2008) was an American basketball player. He competed as part of the gold medal-winning American team at the 1955 Pan American Games in Mexico City. Early life and education Olson was born on December 10, 1926. He attended Pomona College and played basketball for the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens, where he became the first 1000-point scorer in the team's history. Upland is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States on the border with neighboring Los Angeles County. The municipality is located at an elevation of 1,242 feet (379 m). As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 79,040, up from 73,732 at the 2010 census and 68,393 at the 2000 census. Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens is the joint athletics program for Pomona College and Pitzer College, two of the Claremont Colleges. It competes in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) of the NCAA Division III. Its mascot is Cecil the Sagehen. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop.
