Lochlan Watt
Lochlan Watt (born 1987) is an Australian radio announcer, journalist, record label owner and musician from Samford, Queensland. He is currently based in Melbourne. Career He has hosted Triple J's heavy music show The Racket since February 2012. He runs the Monolith label, and has contributed to various print and online publications, with a regular column appearing in Time Off/The Music from 2010-2014. Watt has performed primarily as a vocalist in such groups as Colossvs, Nuclear Summer, Ironhide, Porky's Butthole, The Surrogate, Western Decay and Thy Art is Murder. Watt filled in for vocals with Thy Art Is Murder Thy Art Is Murder is an Australian deathcore band from Blacktown, Sydney, that formed in 2006. Samford, Queensland
Samford is a town in Moreton Bay Region, South East Queensland, Australia. It consists of two localities, Samford Village and Samford Valley. Geography Samford is a hilly area, roughly north west of Brisbane. Access to Samford from Brisbane is via Samford Road through the Samford State Forest and takes about 10 minutes from Ferny Grove. Samford is located adjacent to the Samford State Forest section of Brisbane Forest Park. Brisbane Forest Park comprises more than 26,500 ha enclosing 16 separate recreation areas. The wide variety of habitat provides a sanctuary for a broad range of native wildlife. Triple J
Triple J (stylised in all lowercase) is a government-funded, national Australian Radio in Australia, radio station intended to appeal to listeners of alternative music, which began broadcasting in January 1975. The station also places a greater emphasis on broadcasting music of Australia, Australian content compared to commercial stations. Triple J is a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The Racket (radio Program)
''The Racket'' (formerly ''3 Hours of Power'' and ''Full Metal Racket'') is an Australian heavy metal radio show airing on alternative youth broadcaster Triple J. The show currently airs between 9pm and 11pm on Tuesday nights and is hosted by Lochlan Watt. The name was an allusion to the popular Kubrick war film ''Full Metal Jacket''. A notable, now former segment of the program is the 'Corpse Classic' - three songs played throughout the show off a pre-1987 heavy metal vinyl. Bands featured on this segment have been: Bathory, Suicidal Tendencies, Mötley Crüe, Spinal Tap, Iron Maiden among others. The 'Corpse Classic' was replaced with the similarly themed 'Heavy Metal Troopers' in 2008 because of 'running out of vinyl'. Heavy Metal Troopers involved playing songs by a band that had put out 6 or more albums, regardless of their activity. Thy Art Is Murder
Thy Art Is Murder is an Australian deathcore band from Blacktown, Sydney, that formed in 2006. The band consists of vocalist Chris "CJ" McMahon, guitarists Sean Delander and Andy Marsh, drummer Jesse Beahler and bassist Kevin Butler. Thy Art Is Murder has released five studio albums since formation. Their 2008 EP ''Infinite Death'', reached position no. 10 on the AIR Charts upon release, and their second full-length album ''Hate'' debuted at no. 35 on the ARIA Charts, making them the first extreme metal band to ever reach the Top 40 of this chart. The album also reached no. 1 on AIR and both no. 2 and no. 4 respectively on the US and Canadian iTunes metal charts on its week of release.
