Geography Lochington is bounded to the east and south-east by the Nogoa River. The locality is within the Fitzroy River drainage basin. The predominant land use is grazing on native vegetation. History Lochington pastoral station obtained a mail service on 1 January 1937. Lockington Provisional School opened 23 January 1961 on land that was once part of Lockington pastoral station. It became Lockington State School at a new site in January 1965. Fitzroy River Drainage Basin
The Fitzroy River (Darumbal: ''Toonooba'') is a river located in Central Queensland, Australia. Its catchment covers an area of , making it the largest river catchment flowing to the eastern coast of Australia. It is also the largest river basin that discharges onto the Great Barrier Reef. Course and features Formed by the confluence of the Mackenzie and Dawson rivers that drain the Expedition Range and the Carnarvon Range respectively, the Fitzroy River rises near Duaringa and flows initially north by east, then northward near the Goodedulla National Park. The Gemfields is a former locality in the Central Highlands Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , The Gemfields had a population of 1,449 people. On 17 April 2020, the Queensland Government re-drew the boundaries of localities within the Central Highlands Region by removing the locality of The Gemfields in order to create three new localities of Rubyvale, Sapphire Central and Anakie Siding (around the towns of Rubyvale, Sapphire, and Anakie respectively). ''The Morning Bulletin'' is an online newspaper servicing the city of Rockhampton and the surrounding areas of Central Queensland, Australia. Snake Range National Park
Snake Range is a national park in Central Queensland, Australia, 665 km northwest of Brisbane. The park lies within the Nogoa River drainage basin in the Brigalow Belt bioregion. It is only accessible to the public via tracks over private land. Snake Range was gazetted for its high scenic, biological and cultural heritage values. The land is mountainous, with weathered sandstone ridges and small gorges. There are balancing rocks, cliffs, buttresses, wind blown caves and flowing springs. No cultural survey has been undertaken, but there is evidence of cultural sites throughout the park.
