A lobby is a room in a building used for entry from the outside. Sometimes referred to as a foyer, reception area or an entrance hall, it is often a large room or complex of rooms (in a theatre, opera house, concert hall, showroom, cinema, etc.) adjacent to the auditorium. It may be a repose area for spectators, especially used before performance and during intermissions, but also as a place of celebrations or festivities after performance. Since the mid-1980s, there has been a growing trend to think of lobbies as more than just ways to get from the door to the elevator but instead as social spaces and places of commerce. Some research has even been done to develop scales to measure lobby atmosphere to improve hotel lobby design. Lobby or lobbies is a traditional stew or casserole, containing chicken or corned beef, potatoes, carrots, peas, and onion. Usually made out of the leftover Sunday roast to make a 2nd meal Background Lobby is a traditional North Staffordshire stew eaten by poorly-paid potters who could not afford freshly prepared food every day. It consists of minced or diced beef or lamb, diced potatoes, onions, carrots, leeks, and root vegetables bulked up with pearl barley and seasoned. Maurice Hassell describes Lobby as "a nutritious economic meal made with the season’s vegetables". It remains on the menus of local pubs and on locals' dinner tables today. In Leigh, Greater Manchester, the dish earned the nickname "lobby gobblers" for the inhabitants of the town, in contrast to the "pie eaters" of neighbouring Wigan. Lobby (band)
Lobby was a Slovak Eurodance band active between 1995 and 2001. They released four studio albums and sang in Slovak, English, and Spanish. The band was made up of Martina Ostatníková, Andrej Dziak, Milan Michalík, Karol Bližnák and, until 1997, Miroslav Babják. Biography Lobby's first album, ''Hi Dee Ho!'', was released in 1995 on the independent label ENA Records. This was followed in 1996 by ''Power in Our Hands'' and ''Livin' Large'' (1997) on Sony's dance subsidiary Dance Pool. Their last album, ''Y2K'', came out in 2000 on Ariola Records. The band broke up the following year. The terms the Lobby and Lobby journalists collectively characterise the political journalists in the United Kingdom Houses of Parliament. The term derives from the special access they receive to the Members' Lobby. Lobby journalism refers to the news coverage, largely unattributed, generated by reporters from the political proceedings in Parliament. The Lobby was an improvisational comedy group based in Southern California. Unlike many improv groups, which are composed of many members who perform on a rotating basis, The Lobby was a small, close-knit group. Seymour Joly de Lotbiniere (21 October 1905 – 6 November 1984) known as "Lobby" was a Director of the British Broadcasting Corporation and pioneer of outside broadcasts. He is recognised as developing the technique of sports commentary on radio and subsequently television, and he masterminded the televising of the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Lobby Loyde (born John Baslington Lyde, 18 May 1941 – 21 April 2007), also known as John Barrie Lyde or Barry Lyde, was an Australian rock music guitarist, songwriter and producer. He was a member of two 1960s groups: Purple Hearts, which had a Top 40 hit with "Early in the Morning" in 1966, and Wild Cherries with their hit "That's Life" in 1967.
