Llangennech Rugby Football Club are a Welsh rugby union club based in Llangennech in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Llangennech RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union. Llangennech Rugby Football Club was established in 1885, when enthusiasm for the game had spread across local villages after Llanelli won the South Wales trophy. Since then Llangennech has had a side that has played in every rugby season since 1885, with only the two World wars breaking the run. The First XV play in the WRU Division One West. There are over 200+ registered mini & junior players, with teams from Under 7's right up to Under 16's. 20+ Youth and 30+ Senior players. Llangennech
Llangennech (()) is a village and community in the area of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, Wales, which covers an area of . It is governed by Llangennech Community Council and Carmarthenshire County Council. Llangennech is also the name of the county electoral ward coterminous with the village. It falls in the Llanelli parliamentary and Senedd constituency. It lies in the Mid & West Wales region for regional Senedd members. Llangennech was a coal mining community, with several local collieries mining steam coal. There is also a large Labour tradition in the village originating with the mine workers. There was a large Royal Navy depot in the village, which was closed in 2007 in Ministry of Defence restructuring. Llangennech has a strong rugby union team, Llangennech RFC, that feeds many players into Llanelli RFC and then on to the Llanelli Scarlets regional rugby union team. Brian Davies (rugby Union)
David Brian Davies (7 July 1941 — 27 September 2020) was a Welsh international rugby union player. Davies was born in Weston-super-Mare and grew up in Leeds, where his father Idwal (a dual-code international) was playing rugby league for Leeds RLFC. He completed his schooling at Llanelli Grammar, winning Wales Secondary Schools representative honours in both 1959 and 1960. His early rugby was played with Llanelli and Cardiff. A centre, Davies was capped three times by Wales, debuting in a draw against Ireland at Lansdowne Road during the 1962 Five Nations Championship. He made two appearances in the 1963 Five Nations. Davies spent 30 years lecturing in civil engineering at the University of Glamorgan. James "Flex" Lewis (born 15 November 1983) is a former Welsh bodybuilder and has won 7 consecutive 212 Mr. Olympia titles. On 12 May 2022 he announced his retirement from competitive bodybuilding. Philip Steffan Jones (born 9 February 1974) is a former professional cricketer who played for Somerset, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire County Cricket Clubs. He was a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium pace bowler. He is now a teacher and occasionally a bowling coach. Born in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, Jones attended Ysgol y Strade in Llanelli, Loughborough University and Homerton College, Cambridge. Adam Warren (born 7 March 1991) is a Wales international rugby union player currently playing for the Dragons. His position is at centre. Warren came through the youth ranks at Llangennech. Gavin Dean Evans (born 18 July 1984) is a Welsh former professional rugby union player who played as a centre. Born in Swansea, he began his career with Llanelli RFC and played for the Scarlets regional side from 2003 to 2009, when he moved to the Cardiff Blues. Llanelli Rugby Football Club ( cy, Clwb Rygbi Llanelli) is a Welsh rugby union club founded on 30 March 1872. The club's historic home ground was Stradey Park in Llanelli, but they moved in 2008 to the new Parc y Scarlets in adjacent Pemberton. The club song is " Sosban Fach", a Welsh song meaning "Little Saucepan", which is sometimes sung by the club's fans during matches as the club anthem. The team colours are scarlet and white.
