	Denbighshire UK Location Map Denbighshire ( ; cy, Sir Ddinbych; ) is a county in the north-east of Wales. Its borders differ from the historic county of the same name. This part of Wales contains the country's oldest known evidence of habitation – Pontnewydd (Bontnewydd-Llanelwy) Palaeolithic site has Neanderthal remains of some 225,000 years ago. Castles include Denbigh, Rhuddlan, Rhyl, Prestatyn, Trefnant, Llangollen and Ruthin, Castell Dinas Bran, Bodelwyddan and St Asaph Cathedral. Denbighshire is bounded by coastline to the north and hills to the east, south and west. The River Clwyd follows a broad valley with little industry: crops appear in the Vale of Clwyd and cattle and sheep in the uplands. 	Llwyn Llwyn is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in the preserved county of Clwyd, north Wales. It consists of two blocks of alder woodland at and , about south-east of Denbigh and just north of the village of Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch, Llanrhaeadr. The site is on the floodplain of the Rivers River Clywedog, Denbighshire, Clywedog and River Clwyd, Clwyd, and includes peat beds and swamps. It was notified in 1983 and 2001. Part of the site, some , is owned by the Woodland Trust and operated as a nature reserve. picture info	Dee Estuary The Dee Estuary ( cy, Aber Dyfrdwy) is a large estuary by means of which the River Dee flows into Liverpool Bay. The estuary starts near Shotton after a five-mile (8 km) 'canalised' section and the river soon swells to be several miles wide forming the boundary between the Wirral Peninsula in north-west England and Flintshire in north-east Wales. The Dee Estuary's largest towns along it include Hollywell, Flint, Connah's Quay, Shotton, Queensferry, Saltney Ferry, Chester (City), Heswall, West Kirby and Neston as well as other villages and towns alongside it. The A548 also passes along the estuary in Wales and parts of Cheshire West and Chester and Merseyside in England. The North Wales Coast Line follows the course of the Dee Estuary between Prestatyn and Chester. Geology The estuary is unusual in that comparatively little water occupies so large a basin.
