Ljusdal () is a locality and the seat of Ljusdal Municipality, Gävleborg County, Sweden with 6,230 inhabitants in 2010. Ljusdal is situated on Riksväg 83 which runs between Tönnebro in Söderhamn Municipality in Gävleborg County and Ånge in Västernorrland County. It is located beside the river Ljusnan which goes from Bruksvallarna to the Gulf of Bothnia. Ljusdal is noted for having hosted the annual Bandy World Cup in the sport of bandy from 1974 to 2008. Three Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland situated in Ljusdal Municipality were inscribed in 2012 on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Ljusdal Municipality
Ljusdal Municipality (''Ljusdals kommun'') is one of Sweden's 290 municipalities within Gävleborg County. Its seat is Ljusdal. The municipality was formed in 1971 by the amalgamation of the market town (''köping'') of Ljusdal (instituted in 1914) with the rural municipalities Järvsö, Färila, Los and Ramsjö. Ljusdal is known for its successful bandy team and for the annual Bandy World Cup that used to be held in the town. Geography Geographically the town is located on the shores of the river Ljusnan, along the shores of which Sweden's northern main line railway ('' Norra Stambanan'') stretches. The municipality calls itself "Sweden's nearest Norrland", with Norrland being historically how Sweden's north was referred to. Geographically, the municipality is located at the centre of Sweden. Ljusdals IF
Ljusdals IF is a sports club in Ljusdal, Sweden, currently only playing soccer. History The club was founded on 9 June 1904 and originally competed in soccer, track and field athletics, gymnastics and cross-country skiing. The club has also competed in bandy, ski jumping, handball, ice hockey, orienteering and swimming. The men's soccer team made it to the Norrland Championship final game in 1950, losing 0–4 to Skellefteå AIK. The team also played four seasons in the Swedish top division between 1968–1971. Ljusdals IF currently plays in Division 4 Hälsingland which is the sixth tier of Swedish football. They play their home matches at the Älvvallen in Ljusdal. In 2017 the women's soccer team won Division 1 Northern Svealand. In October 2017, Ljusdals IF defeated Notvikens IK in the qualifying games and qualifyed for Elitettan 2018. Bandy World Cup
The Bandy World Cup is an international bandy competition played in Sweden at the beginning of the bandy season every year, in autumn. The participating teams qualify based on their results in the previous bandy season. The World Cup is not played by national teams but is for bandy clubs from around the world, and should therefore not be confused with the Bandy World Championship. It is usually considered to be "the world championship for clubs". The tournament has been dominated by Swedish and Russian teams. History The Bandy World Cup was held every year in Ljusdal in Sweden from 1974 to 2008, at the start of the bandy season in autumn. From 2009 it has been played indoors in Sandviken because Ljusdal was waiting for an indoor arena. Gävleborg County ( sv, Gävleborgs län) is a county or '' län'' on the Baltic Sea coast of Sweden. It borders the counties of Uppsala, Västmanland, Dalarna, Jämtland and Västernorrland. The capital is Gävle. Hälsingland (), sometimes referred to as Helsingia in English, is a historical province or ''landskap'' in central Sweden. It borders Gästrikland, Dalarna, Härjedalen, Medelpad and the Gulf of Bothnia. It is part of the land of Norrland. Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. Decorated Farmhouses Of Hälsingland
The Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland ( sv, Världsarvet Hälsingegårdar) is a World Heritage Site inscribed 1 July 2012 as Sweden's fifteenth entry on the list. Seven farmhouses erected in the 19th century were eventually selected to represent the most distinguished and well preserved examples of local architectural and decorative tradition. Preparations for a nomination began during the 1990s. The initial nomination was a heterogeneous collection of farmhouses and environments connected to agrarian culture in Hälsingland. Fifteen sites including an entire village were represented. The first nomination was rejected at the conference in Sevilla in 2009, with the suggestion of curating a narrower selection of sites.
