Ljubomir Vulović
Ljubomir Vulović ( sr-cyr, Љубомир Вуловић, 6 January 1876 – 27 June 1917), known by his nickname Ljuba (Љуба), was an artillery major in the Serbian Army, conspirator of the May Coup, and member of the Black Hand. Life Ljubomir R. Vulović (Љубомир Р. Вуловић) was born in Vukosavce, in the Kragujevac ''okrug'' of the Principality of Serbia. He finished three years of gymnasium and the artillery NCO school. He was given the rank of lieutenant on 21 March 1898, then elevated to major on 14 March 1899. He was a founding member of the Central Board of Vranje, of the Serbian Chetnik Organization, alongside Ljuba Čupa, V. Karić, S. Zlatičanin, Jovan Nenadović, Dragiša Đurić, Petar Pešić, and others. May Coup (Serbia)
The May Coup ( sr, Мајски преврат, Majski prevrat) was a coup d'état involving the assassination of the Serbian King Alexander Obrenović and his consort Queen Draga inside the Royal Palace in Belgrade on the night of . This act resulted in the extinction of the Obrenović dynasty that had ruled the Kingdom of Serbia since the middle of the 19th century. A group of Serbian Army officers led by captain Dragutin Dimitrijević (Apis) organized the assassination. After the May Coup, the throne passed to King Peter I of Serbia. Along with the royal couple, the conspirators killed prime minister Dimitrije Cincar-Marković, minister of the army and general-adjutant Lazar Petrović. Dragutin Dimitrijević ( sr-Cyrl, Драгутин Димитријевић; 17 August 1876 – 24 June 1917), better known by his nickname Apis, was a Serbian army officer and chief of the military intelligence section of the general staff in 1913. He is best known as the most prominent member of the Black Hand, a secret military society that organised the 1903 overthrow of the Serbian government and the assassination of King Alexander I of Serbia and Queen Draga. Some scholars believe that he also initiated the plot to kill the Archduke Franz Ferdinand in June 1914, which led to the July Crisis and the outbreak of World War I. In 1916, the government in exile of Serbian Prime Minister Nikola Pašić, who considered Dimitrijević a threat, filed charges of high treason against the leadership of Unification or Death. Rade Malobabić ( sr-Cyrl, Раде Малобабић; died June 26, 1917) was a Serbian intelligence agent. He was best known for allegedly helping the Black Hand in the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, which initiated World War I. Agram (Zagreb) Trials Rade Malobabić was one of the high profile members of the 53 defendants tried for High Treason in Zagreb between 1907 and 1909. Rade was among 31 the found guilty and sentenced to hard labour for an extended term. The subsequent appeal being successful and the parallel Friedjung Process proving the evidence against Malobabić and his fellow defendants to have been fabricated led to the state dropping the charges and releasing all 31 remaining accused in 1910. Salonika Trial
Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir presumptive to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, were assassinated on 28 June 1914 by Bosnian Serb student Gavrilo Princip. They were shot at close range while being driven through Sarajevo, the provincial capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, formally annexed by Austria-Hungary in 1908. Princip was part of a group of six Bosnian assassins together with Muhamed Mehmedbašić, Vaso Čubrilović, Nedeljko Čabrinović, Cvjetko Popović and Trifko Grabež coordinated by Danilo Ilić; all but one were Bosnian Serbs and members of a student revolutionary group that later became known as Young Bosnia.
