Ljan Station
Ljan Station ( no, Ljan stasjon) is a railway station on the Østfold Line. It is located in the Ljan neighborhood in the Nordstrand borough of Oslo, Norway. Situated from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features two side platforms. Hauketo is served by the Line L2 of the Oslo Commuter Rail, providing two services each hour. The station was one of the original stations on the Østfold Line, and opened on 2 January 1879. The original station was designed by Peter Andreas Blix. Commuter trains started running to Ljan in 1883, and had for many years the station as their terminus. The line through Ljan was moved during the 1920 and converted to double track. Ljan Station received a new station building in 1923, designed in Neoclassic by Gerhard Fischer, including an underpass with entrances. The station is listed as a cultural heritage site. Ljan () is a residential neighborhood in the borough Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. It is located in the eastern rolling hillsides of the fjord Bunnefjorden. To the south Ljanselva which begins at Lutvann has its mouth, and where it runs through Liadalen at Ljan it also constitutes the border with borough Søndre Nordstrand. The number of inhabitants was about 3,500 in 2004. Ljan Church is known as one of the very few churches in Norway that was built in the 1930s in the Romanesque Revival style. The public beaches at Ljan are Hvervenbukta, Ljansbadet and Katten, and in addition there are a number of private bath houses along Mosseveien. The borders to the north and east are less obvious and drawn between the school circuits Ljan and Nordstrand. The name originates with an Old Norse river name ' but the meaning has been lost to time. Hauketo Station
Hauketo Station ( no, Hauketo Stasjon) is a railway station on the Østfold Line. It is located in the Hauketo neighborhood in the Søndre Nordstrand borough of Oslo, Norway. Situated from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features two side platforms. Hauketo is served by the Line L2 of the Norwegian State Railways's Oslo Commuter Rail, providing two to four services each hour. The station opened on 15 February 1925, after the Østfold Line had been moved to avoid the Ljan Viaduct. Its original wooden station building is now a pizzeria. The station has been unmanned since 1980. Eight Ruter bus lines feed the station. History When Østfold Line opened in 1879 it followed a more westerly right-of-way through Holm. The line passed over Ljansdalen on the Ljan Viaduct. The ground conditions were poor through Holm and the Norwegian State Railways therefore decided to build a new rote via Hauketo. In railway signalling, an interlocking is an arrangement of signal apparatus that prevents conflicting movements through an arrangement of tracks such as junction (rail), junctions or crossings. Coaching Inn
The coaching inn (also coaching house or staging inn) was a vital part of Europe's inland transport infrastructure until the development of the railway, providing a resting point ( layover) for people and horses. The inn served the needs of travellers, for food, drink, and rest. The attached stables, staffed by hostlers, cared for the horses, including changing a tired team for a fresh one. Coaching inns were used by private travellers in their coaches, the public riding stagecoaches between one town and another, and (in England at least) the mail coach. Just as with roadhouses in other countries, although many survive, and some still offer overnight accommodation, in general coaching inns have lost their original function and now operate as ordinary pubs. Enebakk is a municipality in Akershus in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the Follo traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Kirkebygda. ''Oslo byleksikon'' ( en, Oslo City Encyclopaedia) is an encyclopaedia on Oslo, Norway's capital city. It has been published in five editions since 1938. The third, fourth and the fifth editions were published in cooperation between the heritage association Selskabet for Oslo Byes Vel and the publishing house Kunnskapsforlaget.
