Lizzie Lakely is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Kitty McGeever. Lizzie is ''Emmerdale'' first blind character, and was played by a blind actress. She made her first on-screen appearance on 28 April 2009. Lizzie's last appearance was on 28 March 2013. McGeever had health problems, but, in June 2013, producer Kate Oates stated there had been plans for her to return. McGeever died in August 2015, however, without having returned to the series. Character creation and casting In January 2009, it was announced that Anita Turner had stepped down from the position of series producer and that Gavin Blyth had taken over the role. With Turner's departure Blyth began the show's rejuvenation and with that came his first signing, actress Kim Thomson as Faye Lamb. Gavin Blyth
Gavin John Blyth (27 October 1969 – 26 November 2010) was a British television producer and journalist. He was well known for being series producer of ''Emmerdale'' from January 2009 until his death. Beginning his career in 2002, he joined ''Emmerdale'' in 2003 as a writer. He later went on to be an assistant producer and also a story editor on ''Coronation Street''. Early life Blyth was born on 27 October 1969, in Southport he grew up in the village of Hesketh Bank and was educated at Tarleton High School, he was the son of Merseyside journalist and broadcaster Roger Blyth. She made her first appearance, along with her husband Mark Wylde (Maxwell Caulfield), on 15 January 2009. Christopher John Chittell (born 19 May 1948) is an English actor, known for his role as Eric Pollard in the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale''. Eric Pollard (also Pollock) is a fictional character from the British soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Chris Chittell. He made his first appearance in the soap on 30 September 1986. Matthew Wolfenden (born 5 May 1980) is an English actor best known for his role as David Metcalfe in the British soap opera ''Emmerdale''. Early life Wolfenden was born in Norwood Green, West Yorkshire. He was educated at Brighouse High School. Ashley Thomas is a fictional character from the British soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by John Middleton. He made his first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 5 December 1996. It was announced on 22 October 2015 that Middleton would be departing as Ashley at the end of his contract after the character was diagnosed with vascular dementia in the episode aired on that day.
