Livres (movement)
Livres ( pt, Free, link=yes) is a Brazilian social-liberal and economic liberal political movement. The political scientist Magno Karl is Livres' current executive director. Livres has 25 members holding public office positions, among them one senator ( Rodrigo Cunha from the Brazilian Social Democracy Party in Alagoas), seven federal deputies, and eight state deputies and nine city councillors, along with economists, political scientists, and more than three thousand registered activists. Livres went on to grow as a liberal wing of the PSL and control the party's political agenda, communication, and 13 out of its 27 state directories. Inspired by Livres' liberal approach, notable Brazilian public intellectuals, such as political scientist Fábio Ostermann and journalist Leandro Narloch, openly supported the PSL. Social Liberal Party (Brazil)
The Social Liberal Party ( pt, Partido Social Liberal, links= Partido Social Liberal, PSL) was a far-right political party in Brazil, that merged with the Democrats and founded the Brazil Union. Founded in 1994 as a social-liberal political party, the PSL was registered on the Superior Electoral Court in 1998. In January 2018, former Social Christian Party politician Jair Bolsonaro joined the party and later converted it into an economically liberal, Brazilian nationalist, radically anti-communist and social conservative party. The original name remained after the ideological shift, and after Livres (the party's original main wing) left the party and formed their own political movement to continue the party's original goals. Jair Messias Bolsonaro (; born 21 March 1955) is a Brazilian politician and retired military officer who has been the 38th president of Brazil since 1 January 2019. He was elected in 2018 as a member of the Social Liberal Party, which he turned into a conservative party, before cutting ties with it. In 2021, he joined the Liberal Party. From 1991 to 2018, Bolsonaro served in Brazil's Chamber of Deputies, representing the state of Rio de Janeiro. Bolsonaro was born in Glicério, in the state of São Paulo. The Sustainability Network ( pt, Rede Sustentabilidade, REDE) is an environmentalist Brazilian political party founded in 2013 by Marina Silva, a Brazilian politician from Acre. The party formed a strategic alliance with the Brazilian Socialist Party for the 2014 Brazilian general election, until its registration as an independent political party was approved in 2015. The Sustainability Network has 19,090 members as of January 2017. The National Mobilization Party ( pt, Partido da Mobilização Nacional, PMN) is a political party in Brazil founded by politicians from the state of Minas Gerais on April 21, 1984, advocating for agrarian reform, termination of debt payments, ending of relations with the International Monetary Fund and formation of a trade bloc with other South American nations. Due to some problems with the Brazilian Electoral Court, the PMN's registration was ceased in January 1989. The party restarted in June of the same year.
