Liviu Tipuriță
Liviu Tipuriţă is a Transylvanian-born British film director and producer. He has been nominated for an award by BAFTA. Early life Tipuriţă was born and grew up in Sibiu, Romania. He later moved to the UK to study filmmaking in Newcastle and Edinburgh. Awards In 2003, he won a George Polk Award for Television Reporting. Sibiu
Sibiu ( , , german: link=no, Hermannstadt , la, Cibinium, Transylvanian Saxon: ''Härmeschtat'', hu, Nagyszeben ) is a city in Romania, in the historical region of Transylvania. Located some north-west of Bucharest, the city straddles the Cibin River, a tributary of the river Olt. Now the capital of the Sibiu County, between 1692 and 1791 and 1849–65 Sibiu was also the capital of the Principality of Transylvania. Nicknamed ''The City with Eyes'', the city is a well-known tourist destination for both domestic and foreign visitors. Known for its culture, history, gastronomy and diverse architecture, which includes the iconic houses with eyes that gave Sibiu its nickname, the city has garnered significant attention since the beginning of the 21st century. George Polk Award
The George Polk Awards in Journalism are a series of American journalism awards presented annually by Long Island University in New York in the United States. A writer for Idea Lab, a group blog hosted on the website of PBS, described the award as "one of only a couple of journalism prizes that means anything". History The awards were established in 1949 in memory of George Polk, a ''CBS'' correspondent who was murdered in 1948 while covering the Greek Civil War (1946–49).
