Watson, Louisiana
Watson is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. The community is in the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Watson Post Office was established on February 20, 1894, by George A. Watson. The first Live Oak School was built in 1895 on land donated by Rev. Joel Ott. Several buildings were used for classes there, until the present site was purchased and a two-story school built. Published histories of Live Oak Methodist Church state that the first church was built not more than a quarter-mile from the present site prior to the Civil War. It was destroyed by Union soldiers. The church history states that W.C. Newsom, Huff Jones, George Nesom, J.B. Easterly and James Chandler erected a new building shortly after the Civil War fire. In 1893, under the pastorate of J.P. Colyell, Louisiana
Colyell is an unincorporated community in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. It was named after Francisco Collell, who was the commandant of Galveztown in 1779. Currently, the only school located in the Colyell area is Frost School, with grades pre-kindergarten through eighth. Colyell supports a community ball park, located on Perrilloux Road. Walker High School is a public high school located in Walker, Louisiana, United States. Walker High School is part of the Livingston Parish Public Schools system, and was founded in 1921 as a community school for the residents of Walker, a town located in Livingston Parish. The school is currently located off of Burgess Ave. The high school moved to its current campus in the 1970s leaving behind its old campus that is on the National Register of Historic Places. The old campus was converted to Walker Freshmen High School then again, in 2021 to Walker Junior High. Walker High School is a public high school and has open enrollment.
