"Living in Oblivion" is a song by American synthpop band Anything Box. It was initially self-released by the band as a 12" single in 1988, with "Time to Go" and "Living in Oblivion (Slow Mix)" on its B-side. It was released again in 1990 as their first major label single, on Epic Records. The song is from their debut album ''Peace''. It was the band's first chart hit, and only single to appear on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, where it reached No. 65. On the ''Billboard'' Dance Club Songs chart, the song peaked at No. 10. Anything Box
Anything Box is an electronic/synthpop musical group originally from Paterson, New Jersey, and now based in Long Beach, California. Formed in 1986, they are best known for their 1989 single "Living in Oblivion". They also garnered some attention for releasing an album entirely in MP3 format in 2003. With a current lineup consisting solely of Claude Strilio, the past lineups have included long-time members Dania Morales and Paul Rijnders, as well as Carlos Pacheco, Mike Zacek, Gary Strilio, Dave South and Barry Bunch. The band is noted for its melodic, synth-driven dance beats from its early years as well as its fusion of electronics and guitars which is its current musical focus. Paul Jason Robb is a synthesizer player, producer, songwriter and one of the founding members of the band Information Society. Biography Robb was a member of Information Society from its inception in the early 1980s until 1992 (after its third release ''Peace and Love, Inc.''). When Information Society's contract with Tommy Boy/Reprise/Warner Bros. Records ended, Paul (who at the time had a new infant) chose to work in films and commercials, winning two Clio Awards for BMW ads in the process. In 1996, he started a record company called Hakatak International. Hakatak featured his one-man industrial-tinged band Think Tank, as well as a trip hop- and world music-flavored collaboration with Minneapolis folk singer Barbara Cohen named Brother Sun Sister Moon.
