Living Dead
''Living Dead'' is a blanket term for the loosely connected horror franchise that originated from the 1968 film ''Night of the Living Dead''. The film, written by George A. Romero and John A. Russo, primarily focuses on a group of people gathering at a farmhouse to survive from an onslaught of zombies in rural Pennsylvania. It is known to have inspired the modern interpretation of zombies as reanimated human corpses that feast on the flesh and/or brains of the living. Due to a copyright error during its release, ''Night of the Living Dead''s status in the public domain has resulted in numerous works claiming to expand upon or spin off from the plot points and characters of the film, sometimes without the involvement of the original cast and crew members. ''Return of the Living Dead 3'' is a 1993 horror comedy film and the second sequel in the ''Return of the Living Dead'' film series, though it went in a different direction than the previous films. Plot Five years after the events of the previous film, Curt Reynolds steals his father's security key card, and he and his girlfriend, Julie Walker, explore the military base where his father works. They observe Curt's father, Colonel John Reynolds, Col. Peck and Lt. Col. Sinclair overseeing an experiment with a deceased body. The corpse is exposed to 2-4-5 Trioxin gas, which re-animates the corpse into a zombie. The military hopes to use zombies in combat. Ken Wiederhorn is a former news and documentary editor at CBS and a film and television director, known mainly for the horror films '' Shock Waves'' and ''Return of the Living Dead Part II''. Other features include '' Eyes of a Stranger'', '' Meatballs II'', and ''A House in the Hills''. He also directed multiple episodes of '' 21 Jump Street'', '' Dark Justice'', and '' Freddy's Nightmares''. Daniel Thomas O'Bannon (September 30, 1946 – December 17, 2009) was an American film screenwriter, director and visual effects supervisor, usually in the science fiction and horror genres. O'Bannon wrote the screenplay for '' Alien'', adapted from a story he wrote with Ronald Shusett. He also wrote and directed the cult horror comedy '' The Return of the Living Dead''.
