Liverpool F.C. (Montevideo)
Liverpool Fútbol Club is a Uruguayan association football, football club based in Montevideo. The team was first promoted to the Uruguayan Primera División, Primera División in 1919 and plays its home games at Estadio Belvedere. History The club has its roots in the student team from the Catholic Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, Capuchin school in Nuevo París, which began playing in 1908. The club took on the name Liverpool as there were many cultural links between the two areas; the majority of coal ships arriving in Montevideo came from the English port. A number of clubs took on Anglicised names, such as league rivals Montevideo Wanderers F.C., Montevideo Wanderers; in this case, the team paid homage to Liverpool F.C., Liverpool FC. Liverpool plays home matches in Estadio Belvedere (Belvedere Stadium), formerly owned by the Montevideo Wanderers. In 2019 Liverpool won the Torneo Intermedio, their first 1st division title. Estadio Belvedere
Estadio Belvedere is a multi-use stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is currently used primarily for football matches. The stadium holds 10,000 people and was built in 1909. On August 15, 1910, in a game at Estadio Belvedere, the Uruguay national football team wore their signature light blue jerseys for the first time. The game ended in a 3–1 victory over Argentina. It was also the first game that Argentina wore their signature blue and white striped jerseys. The Estadio, formerly owned by the Montevideo Wanderers, now belongs to Liverpool FC of Montevideo. 2012 Copa Sudamericana
The 2012 Copa Sudamericana de Clubes (officially the 2012 Copa Bridgestone Sudamericana de Clubes for sponsorship reasons) was the 11th edition of the Copa Sudamericana, South America's secondary international club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The tournament was expanded from 39 teams to 47 teams, allowing the eight associations other than Argentina and Brazil to each enter four teams instead of three teams. Universidad de Chile were the defending champions, but lost to eventual champion, São Paulo in the quarterfinals. Brazilian club São Paulo were crowned as the champion after defeating Argentine club Tigre in the finals. Hernán Figueredo Alonzo (born 15 May 1985) is a Uruguayan footballer who plays as a midfielder for Defensor Sporting. Career Figueredo started his career playing with his home team C.A. Bella Vista. In mid 2008, he was sent out on loan for six-months to C.S.D. Villa Española. In August 2009, he signed a new deal with Liverpool F.C. (Montevideo), team which he participated in the 2009 Copa Sudamericana and the 2011 Copa Libertadores. On 19 June 2012, he was transferred to the Belarusian side FC Dinamo Minsk. The 2021 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores was the 62nd edition of the CONMEBOL Libertadores (also referred to as the ''Copa Libertadores''), South America's premier club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The 2019 Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana was the 18th edition of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana (also referred to as the ''Copa Sudamericana'', or pt, Copa Sul-Americana), South America's secondary club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL.
