Live With Me
"Live with Me" is a song by the Rolling Stones from their album '' Let It Bleed'', released in December 1969. It was the first song recorded with the band's new guitarist Mick Taylor, who joined the band in June 1969, although the first record the band released with Taylor was the single version of ''Honky Tonk Women''. Taylor later described the recording of "Live with Me" as "kind of the start of that particular era for the Stones, where Keith and I traded licks."Bill Janovitz, ''Rocks Off: 50 Tracks That Tell the Story of the Rolling Stones'' ( Macmillan Publishers, 2013), , pp. 168Excerpts availableat Google Books. The song also marks the first time the Stones recorded with tenor saxophonist Bobby Keys (who played on many Stones records thereafter), and the only time Leon Russell would play with the Stones. Russell and Nicky Hopkins contributed piano to the piece. Written by Mick Jagger and Richards, "Live with Me" was recorded on 24 May 1969. As Taylor joined the ba ...

The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in London in 1962. Active for six decades, they are one of the most popular and enduring bands of the rock era. In the early 1960s, the Rolling Stones pioneered the gritty, rhythmically driven sound that came to define hard rock. Their first stable line-up consisted of vocalist Mick Jagger, multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones, guitarist Keith Richards, bassist Bill Wyman, and drummer Charlie Watts. During their formative years, Jones was the primary leader: he assembled the band, named it, and drove their sound and image. After Andrew Loog Oldham became the group's manager in 1963, he encouraged them to write their own songs. Jagger and Richards became the primary creative force behind the band, alienating Jones, who had developed a drug addiction that interfered with his ability to contribute meaningfully. Rooted in blues and early rock and roll, the Rolling Stones started out playing covers and were at the forefront ...

Sticky Fingers
''Sticky Fingers'' is the 9th British and 11th American studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones. The Stones released it on 23 April 1971 on their new, and own label Rolling Stones Records. They had been contracted by Decca Records and London Records in the UK and the US since 1963. On this album Mick Taylor made his second full-length appearance on a Rolling Stones album (after the live album ''Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!''). It was the first studio album without Brian Jones who died two years earlier. The original cover artwork, conceived by Andy Warhol and photographed and designed by members of his art collective, The Factory, showed a picture of a man in tight jeans, and had a working zip that opened to reveal underwear fabric. The cover was expensive to produce and damaged the vinyl record, so later re-issues featured just the outer photograph of the jeans. The album featured a return to basics for the Rolling Stones. The unusual instrumentation introduced ...

Wild Horses (The Rolling Stones Song)

Inspiration and recording In the liner notes to the 1993 Rolling Stones compilation album ''Jump Back'', Jagger states, "I remember we sat around originally doing this with Gram Parsons, and I think his version came out slightly before ours. Everyone always says this was written about Marianne but I don't think it was; that was all well over by then. But I was definitely very inside this piece emotionally." No Security
''No Security'' is a live album by the Rolling Stones released by Virgin Records in 1998. Recorded over the course of the band's 1997–1998 worldwide Bridges to Babylon Tour, it was the band's eighth official full-length live release. Not wishing to repeat songs from previous live albums ''Still Life'' (1982), '' Flashpoint'' (1991) and ''Stripped'' (1995), the Rolling Stones for the most part chose songs that had never been on a live release, including four from the band's most-recent studio album ''Bridges to Babylon'' (1997). Taj Mahal and Dave Matthews appeared as special guests. The tracks were taken from live performances at the Amsterdam Arena, Capitol Theatre (Port Chester, New York) (for MTV's ''Live from the 10 Spot''), TWA Dome (St. Louis), River Plate Stadium (Buenos Aires), and Zeppelinfeld (Nuremberg). The album was released in November 1998, and the band thereafter embarked on another tour, the No Security Tour, crossing North America for 34 shows in hockey ...

The Passionate Shepherd To His Love
"The Passionate Shepherd to His Love" (1599), by Christopher Marlowe, is a pastoral poem from the English Renaissance (1485–1603). Marlowe composed the poem in iambic tetrameter (four feet of one unstressed syllable followed by one stressed syllable) in six stanzas, and each stanza is composed of two rhyming couplets; thus the first line of the poem reads: "Come live with me and be my love". The poem “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” (1599) by Christopher Marlowe (1564–1593) Come live with me, and be my love; And we will all the pleasures prove That hills and valleys, dales and fields, Woods, or steepy mountain yields. And we will sit upon the rocks, Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks By shallow rivers to whose falls Melodious birds sing madrigals. And I will make thee beds of roses, And a thousand fragrant posies; A cap of flowers, and a kirtle Embroidered all with leaves of myrtle; A gown made of the finest wool Which from our pretty lambs we pull; Fai ...

Sir Walter Raleigh
Sir Walter Raleigh (; – 29 October 1618) was an English statesman, soldier, writer and explorer. John Donne
John Donne ( ; 22 January 1572 – 31 March 1631) was an English poet, scholar, soldier and secretary born into a recusant family, who later became a clergy, cleric in the Church of England. Under royal patronage, he was made Dean of St Paul's Cathedral in London (1621–1631). He is considered the preeminent representative of the metaphysical poets. His poetical works are noted for their metaphorical and sensual style and include sonnets, love poems, religious poems, Latin translations, epigrams, elegies, songs and satires. He is also known for his sermons. Donne's style is characterised by abrupt openings and various paradoxes, ironies and dislocations. These features, along with his frequent dramatic or everyday speech rhythms, his tense syntax and his tough eloquence, were both a reaction against the smoothness of conventional Elizabethan poetry and an adaptation into English of European baroque and mannerist techniques. His early career was marked by poetry that bore immen ...
