Live In San Diego (Eric Clapton Album)
''Live in San Diego'' (alternatively known as ''Live in San Diego with special guest JJ Cale'') is the thirteenth live album (and a live DVD) by British rock musician Eric Clapton. It was released through Reprise Records as a live album on 30 September 2016 and as a 2-hour live DVD on 10 March 2017. Overview Special guests on the ''Live in San Diego'' release include guitarists J. J. Cale, Robert Cray, Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks. The live album marks Clapton's second collaboration with Cale after ''The Road to Escondido'' was released on 7 November 2006. Also, the album features the first new live music from Clapton and Cray following Clapton's 1991 live double album '' 24 Nights''. The album, which is available on compact disc, on gramophone record and as a digital download, was recorded on 15 March 2007 at the Ipayone Center in San Diego during the "Doyle & Derek World Tour" and features a total of 16 tracks. Eric Clapton
Eric Patrick Clapton (born 1945) is an English rock and blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He is often regarded as one of the most successful and influential guitarists in rock music. Clapton ranked second in ''Rolling Stone''s list of the " 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and fourth in Gibsons "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time". He was also named number five in ''Time'' magazine's list of "The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players" in 2009. After playing in a number of different local bands, Clapton joined the Yardbirds in 1963, replacing founding guitarist Top Topham. "Cocaine" is a song written and recorded in 1976 by singer-songwriter J. J. Cale. The song was popularized by Eric Clapton after his cover version was released on the 1977 album ''Slowhand''. J. J. Cale's version of "Cocaine" was a number one hit in New Zealand for a single week and became the seventh best-selling single of 1977. ''Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007'' is the Rhino Entertainment and Warner Brothers release to the 2007 Eric Clapton '' Crossroads Guitar Festival''. The concert was recorded on July 28, 2007 at the Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois. The recordings were released on both Compact Disc and DVD on November 28, 2007 in the United States. The CD and DVD releases sold more than two million copies worldwide and reached various international charts. Background All of the 28,000 concert tickets had been sold in less than 22 minutes, topping the international concert sales chart in May 2007.
