Live At Somerset House
''Live at Somerset House'' (also known as ''Mums & Dads of the World Be Patient With Your Children'') is a concert film by Snow Patrol. Recorded on 8 August 2004 at Somerset House on the band's featured stop in London, England, the video was released on 23 November 2004 on DVD. The film features the songs "One Night Is Not Enough", "An Olive Grove Facing The Sea" and "Black & Blue" from their 2001 album ''When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up'', "You Are My Joy" (by The Reindeer Section, a side project spearheaded by Gary Lightbody), and the B-Side "Post Punk Progression". The remaining tracks are from the band's hit 2004 album, ''Final Straw''. Also released was another edition of the DVD with bonus features. Snow Patrol
Snow Patrol are a Northern Irish–Scottish Rock music, rock band formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland. They consist of Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), Paul Wilson (musician), Paul Wilson (bass guitar, backing vocals), Jonny Quinn (drums), and Johnny McDaid (piano, guitar, backing vocals). Initially an indie rock band, Snow Patrol rose to prominence in the early– mid-2000s as part of the post-Britpop movement. The band were founded at the University of Dundee in 1994 by Lightbody, Mark McClelland, and Michael Morrison of Shrug (band), Shrug. Final Straw
''Final Straw'' is the third studio album and major-label debut by Scottish-Northern Irish rock band Snow Patrol, released on 4 August 2003 in the United Kingdom and Ireland and in 2004 in the United States. The album is notable for bringing the band their first mainstream success outside of their native countries of Northern Ireland and Scotland. In the 14 months following its release, a total of 5 singles were drawn from it. It is the first album to feature lead guitarist Nathan Connolly and the last to feature bassist Mark McClelland. The album was re-released in the UK in 2004 with two extra tracks, before being exported to the US (without the bonus tracks). Tom Simpson (musician)
Tom Simpson (born 7 January 1972) is a Scottish DJ and musician, best known as the former keyboardist of the alternative rock band Snow Patrol. Having been with Snow Patrol as a touring member since 1996, he became a permanent one in 2005. In August 2013, he quit the band, citing his desire to do his own thing. Biography Tom Simpson attended Monifieth High School in Angus, Scotland. He went to the art school in the University of Dundee, the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, and has a degree in drawing and painting. He had no musical leanings as a youngster, but always had aspirations of being a scratch/mix DJ. Jonny Quinn
Jonathan Graham Quinn (born 26 February 1972) is a Northern Irish musician, best known as the drummer for alternative rock band Snow Patrol, and was previously a member of bands like The Mighty Fall, The New Brontes and Disraeli Gears. As drummer for Snow Patrol, he has played on all releases. He is married to industrial designer Mariane Quinn (née Røkke). Mark Peter McClelland (born 30 March 1976) is a Northern Irish musician known best as the former bass guitarist of the band Snow Patrol. McClelland is a recipient of the Ivor Novello Award for his work on the album ''Final Straw''. He is now the bassist for alternative act Little Doses. Career Mark McClelland was born on 30 March 1976, and attended Sullivan Upper School as a youngster. In 1994, he started attending the University of Dundee to study Financial economics. During his first year, he founded the band Shrug with Michael Morrison and Gary Lightbody. Morrison left the band in 1995 and with new drummer Jonny Quinn, they became Polar Bear and eventually Snow Patrol. Nathan Connolly
Nathan Connolly (born 20 January 1981) is a Northern Irish musician, who is best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for alternative rock band Snow Patrol. Early life Connolly, who was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, sang for a gospel church choir at Glenmachan, Church of God, Belfast when he was 16, and the experience, he says, is what inspired him to be a musician. He is a former pupil of Grosvenor Grammar School. Music career Prior to joining Snow Patrol, Connolly was a member of a band called File Under Easy Listening (or F.U.E.L), who were managed by BBC Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray. "Chocolate" is a song by UK alternative rock band Snow Patrol. It was released as the third single from their third studio album, ''Final Straw''. The music for the track was written by all four members of the band, while the lyrics are by lead vocalist Gary Lightbody. The single version is slightly different from the album version. "You Are My Joy" is the first UK single (music), single released by Scottish indie rock Supergroup (music), supergroup The Reindeer Section. It was released on 10 June 2002. This is the only single release currently for The Reindeer Section. The track received airplay from BBC Radio 1, Radio1, Xfm and Virgin Radio, Virgin, as well as MTV2. The song was also a stand-out track in the set at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, Carling Weekend Festival in the summer. Two versions of singles were issued, one under Bright Star Recordings and one under Play It Again Sam Recordings (PIAS). Both versions contained a demo version of the song "Budapest", a finished version of which appeared as track 2 on the album Son of Evil Reindeer. "How to Be Dead" is the fourth (fifth if the re-issue of "Spitting Games" is counted) and final single by Snow Patrol from their album ''Final Straw''. It was released in 2004, slightly remixed by Chris Lord-Alge from the album version, and reached number 39 in the United Kingdom and number 42 in Ireland. The song is a downtempo rock ballad, with lyrics detailing a conversation between a couple. Reception Yahoo! Music's Jairne Gill reviewed the single positively, giving it 7 stars out of 10. Though he felt Snow Patrol usually made "ugly empty anthems", the single was a "rather lovely little song" and "modest" and "chimingly melodic". Gill praised the lyrics of the song, calling it "a pretty little knife which Gary Lightbody seems to be twisting into his own chest, a list of druggy regrets and lost loves" and also said that, though the song's "gentle, skipping rhythm threatens to go BIG", it doesn't and "a pretty and intimate song is preserved".
