The John Butler Trio
The John Butler Trio are an Australian roots/rock band led by guitarist and vocalist John Butler, an APRA and ARIA-award-winning musician. They formed in Fremantle in 1998 with Jason McGann on drums, Gavin Shoesmith on bass and John Butler on vocals. By 2009, the trio consisted of Butler with Byron Luiters on bass and Nicky Bomba on drums and percussion, the latter being replaced by Grant Gerathy in 2013. After both Luiters and Gerathy exited the trio in early 2019, bassist OJ Newcomb and drummer Terepai Richmond (also of The Whitlams) joined the band, accompanied by touring musician Elana Stone on keyboards, percussion and backing vocals. The band's second studio album, ''Three'' (2001) reached the top 30 in the Australian album charts and achieved platinum sales. Red Rocks Amphitheatre (also colloquially as simply Red Rocks) is an open-air amphitheatre built into a rock structure in the Western United States, western United States, near Morrison, Colorado, west of Denver. There is a large, tilted, flying disc, disc-shaped rock behind the stage, a huge vertical rock angled outwards from stage right, several large outcrops angled outwards from stage left and a seating area for up to 9,525. John Charles Wiltshire-Butler (born 1 April 1975), professionally known as John Butler, is an American-Australian singer, songwriter, and music producer. He is the frontman, front man for the John Butler Trio, a Folk music, roots and jam band that formed in Fremantle, Western Australia, in 1998. The John Butler Trio has recorded five studio albums including three that have reached number one on the Australian charts: ''Sunrise Over Sea'', ''Grand National (album), Grand National'' and ''April Uprising (album), April Uprising''. ''April Uprising'' is the fifth studio album by Australian roots band the John Butler Trio. The album was recorded from late 2009-early 2010 in Fremantle, Australia. The album's name comes from Butler's appearance on the television documentary series, ''Who Do You Think You Are'', where he journeyed to Bulgaria to find information about his ancestors. The 1876 April Uprising was an important event in Bulgarian history. The first single from the album was "One Way Road", which was accompanied by a music video, and was released on 4 December 2009. The second single was "Close To You", also with a video, on 11 March 2010. The album, produced by Jan Skubiszewski, was recorded over 20 days at Butler's studio 'The Compound' during December 2012, with extra recording sessions taking place in 2013. The photograph used on the album cover was taken in Butler's backyard shed at his home. The album was released on 7 February 2014 in Australia, with releases in other countries occurring within the same week. An international tour took place across 2014 to help promote the album's release. "Mama Kin" is a song by American hard rock band Aerosmith, which appears on their 1973 self-titled debut album. The song was written by lead singer Steven Tyler. It was a staple of Aerosmith concerts and appeared on several live albums. Byron Luiters is an Australian-born musician, best known as the bass guitarist for John Butler Trio and a Message from the Sun...... Early career Luiters first played on a didgeridoo at age sixteen before learning how to play the bass about a year later, inspired by Stuart Zender's bass playing on Jamiroquai's 1994 album ''The Return of the Space Cowboy''. Luiters was initially in a neo-soul band called Ray Mann Three. He joined the band in May 2007, replacing the band's original bassist, Matt Hunter. Nicholas Caruana (born 7 September 1963), also known as Nicky Bomba, is an Australian musician and singer-songwriter. He is the leader of the ARIA Award-winning Melbourne Ska Orchestra, frontman of his band, Bomba, as well as the former drummer and percussionist of John Butler Trio (2003–04, 2009–13).
