''Live at Monsters of Rock'' is a live album and DVD Northern Irish blues guitarist and singer Gary Moore. It was recorded live on May 21, 2003 at Sheffield Hallam Arena in England, during Gary Moore's appearance on the 2003 Monsters of Rock tour. Despite being credited solely to Moore, the album actually represents a performance by Moore's short-lived Scars project, featuring Cass Lewis and Darrin Mooney on bass and drums, respectively. The band plays several tracks from their only studio album, released the previous year, as well as songs from Moore's extensive back catalogue. The DVD, released in 2003 by Sanctuary Visual Entertainment, contains no overdubs and includes a bonus sound check and bonus interview footage of Gary Moore. Monsters of Rock was an annual hard rock and heavy metal music festival held in Castle Donington, England, from 1980 to 1996, taking place every year except 1989 and 1993. It later branched into other locations such as the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, the United States, and the Soviet Union. "Parisienne Walkways" is a song by guitarist Gary Moore that reached number 8 in the UK Singles Chart in May 1979. The song is featured on Moore's album '' Back on the Streets'' and features a vocal from Thin Lizzy frontman, Phil Lynott, who co-wrote the song with Moore. Lynott also played bass guitar on the track, alongside Thin Lizzy drummer Brian Downey, thus reuniting the short-lived 1974 Thin Lizzy line-up which had recorded " Still in Love with You", "Sitamoia" and the single "Little Darling". Overdubbing (also known as layering) is a technique used in audio recording in which audio tracks that have been pre-recorded are then played back and monitored, while simultaneously recording new, doubled, or augmented tracks onto one or more available tracks of a digital audio workstation (DAW) or tape recorder. The overdub process can be repeated multiple times. This technique is often used with singers, as well as with instruments, or ensembles/orchestras. Darrin Mooney
Darrin Shane Mooney (born 26 April 1967, Merton, London) is an English session drummer, best known for his work with Primal Scream and Gary Moore. Mooney started playing at the age of 12 at school. Throughout his school years, he played in various school bands and orchestras, playing both drums and percussion. At the age of 18 Darrin went along to a NYJO (National Youth Jazz Orchestra) rehearsal in London and was inspired as he watched the others play. He was an official member of electro-rock band Babylon Zoo (1996-1999) In 1997 he joined Primal Scream and worked with Gary Moore from 2001. He has also played with China Black, Matt Bianco, Ragga Twins, Bonnie Tyler, Martin Barre and others.
