Live At Fairfield Halls
''Live at the Fairfield Hall, Croydon'' is a live album released in 1991 by pop group Bucks Fizz. It was their first and only release with Jet Records. Background The album was recorded in September 1990 and released six months later to commemorate the group's 10th Anniversary. By this time, the group was down to three members: Bobby G, Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan, member Shelley Preston having left at the end of 1989. The album consisted of many of Bucks Fizz's hit singles and cover versions of popular hits, although didn't include the entire concert. The cover photos were not taken at the Fairfield Halls gig as featured on the album, as the shots taken had been damaged, and so new ones were taken in early March 1991 at a private gig at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Fairfield Halls
Fairfield Halls is an arts, entertainment and conference centre in Croydon, London, England, which opened in 1962 and contains a theatre and gallery, and a large concert hall regularly used for BBC television, radio and orchestral recordings. Fairfield Halls closed for a £30 million redevelopment in 2016, and reopened in 2019. As part of the building's re-opening Talawa Theatre Company relocated to the building, taking up a 200-seat theatre space and offices. Although the venue has been a major venue for professional music, plays, musicals, stand-up comedy and classical music, a significant proportion of Fairfield's programme has been for community events. It was frequently used by local schools as the venue for their annual choral concerts, as well as being regularly used by local music, opera, amateur dramatic and religious organisations. "A Groovy Kind of Love" is a song written by Toni Wine and Carole Bayer Sager based on a melody by the classical composer Muzio Clementi. The original rendition was recorded by American singing duo Diane & Annita and released as "Groovey Kind of Love" on the French EP ''One by One'', in 1965. Andrew Gerard Hill (born 1957 in Bracknell, Berkshire, England) is an English record producer and songwriter who worked with Bucks Fizz and Celine Dion during the 1980s and 1990s. On many of his compositions he was partnered by lyricist Peter Sinfield, who had formerly worked with King Crimson. He has been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award on seven occasions, and has won the award twice in the category "Best Song Musically and Lyrically" and once for "Songwriter of the Year".
