Live Phish Volume 12
''Live Phish Vol. 12'' was recorded live at the Deer Creek Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, on August 13, 1996. The album marked the first time that the songs "Strange Design" and "Sleeping Monkey" had appeared on a commercially released Phish album. Highlights include a mini-acoustic set of songs from the soon-to-be released, critically acclaimed ''Billy Breathes'' album, as well as a 22-minute version of the Phish classic "Mike's Song." Also of note is an exceptional version of the ''Rift'' classic "Fast Enough for You," said by many fans to be one of the best versions ever of the reflective ballad. The show also includes keyboardist Page McConnell performing a solo version of '' The Wizard of Oz'' classic " Somewhere over the Rainbow" on a theremin. Phish
Phish is an American rock band formed in Burlington, Vermont, in 1983. The band is known for musical improvisation, extended jams, blending of genres, and a dedicated fan base. The band consists of guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman, and keyboardist Page McConnell, all of whom perform vocals, with Anastasio being the lead vocalist. The band was formed by Anastasio, Gordon, Fishman and guitarist Jeff Holdsworth, who were joined by McConnell in 1985. Holdsworth departed the band in 1986, and the lineup has remained stable since. Phish began to perform outside of New England in the late 1980s and experienced a rise in popularity in the mid 1990s. In October 2000, the band began a two-year hiatus that ended in December 2002, but they disbanded again in August 2004. Jon Fishman
Jon Fishman (born February 19, 1965) is an American drummer known for his work with the band Phish, which he co-founded in 1983, and which was, in part, named after him. He is credited with co-writing nineteen Phish songs, eight with a solo credit. Early life Fishman was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Syracuse, New York. Fishman had a passion for the drums from an early age and emulated John Bonham, the drummer for Led Zeppelin, Bill Bruford of Yes, and Keith Moon of The Who. He went to Jamesville-Dewitt High School in a suburb of Syracuse. After graduation in 1983, he attended the University of Vermont to study engineering. Felice And Boudleaux Bryant
Felice Bryant (born Matilda Genevieve Scaduto; August 7, 1925 – April 22, 2003) and Diadorius Boudleaux Bryant (; February 13, 1920 – June 25, 1987) were an American husband-and-wife country music and pop songwriting team. They were best known for songs such as "Rocky Top," "We Could" (credited solely to Felice), "Love Hurts" (credited solely to Boudleaux), and numerous hits by the Everly Brothers, including "All I Have to Do Is Dream" (credited solely to Boudleaux), " Bye Bye Love", and " Wake Up Little Susie". Rocky Top
"Rocky Top" is an American country and bluegrass song written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant in 1967 and first recorded by the Osborne Brothers later that same year. The song, which is a city dweller's lamentation over the loss of a simpler and freer existence in the hills of Tennessee, is one of Tennessee's ten official state songs and has been recorded by dozens of artists from multiple musical genres worldwide since its publication. In U.S. college athletics, "Rocky Top" is associated with the Tennessee Volunteers of the University of Tennessee (UT), whose Pride of the Southland Band has played a marching band version of the song at the school's sporting events since the early 1970s. "(You're the Flower of My Heart,) Sweet Adeline" is a ballad best known as a Barbershop music, barbershop standard. It was first published in 1903, with lyrics by Richard Husch Gerard to music by Henry W. Armstrong, Harry Armstrong, from a tune he had written in 1896 at the age of 18. According to a 1928 newspaper story, the lyrics were inspired "by a girl who worked at the music counter of a New York department store." After failing to find a publisher with the initial title, "You're the Flower of My Heart, Sweet Rosalie", according to a story the two decided a new title was in order and were inspired by a poster advertising the farewell tour of opera singer Adelina Patti. Joseph "Joe" Linitz (born 1965) is an American lyricist whose songs, co-written with Phish bassist Mike Gordon, include the title track from Phish's ''Round Room'' and Train Song from '' Billy Breathes''. In addition, Linitz supplied lyrics for the songs "Car Carrier Blues", "With" and "Clay" for Gordon's first album with Leo Kottke, '' Clone'', as well as two songs ("Over the Dam", "Invisible") on the subsequent Gordon/Kottke album '' Sixty Six Steps''. Linitz also cowrote Gov't Mule ballad "Banks of the Deep End" with Gordon and Warren Haynes. Harold Arlen (born Hyman Arluck; February 15, 1905 – April 23, 1986) was an American composer of popular music, who composed over 500 songs, a number of which have become known worldwide. Steve Pollak (born ), best known by his stage name The Dude of Life, is a musician and lyricist. Early life Steve Pollak is from White Plains, New York. He attended high school in the early 1980s. He earned the alias Dude of Life in high school while playing with the teenage band Space Antelope, along with fellow students Dudley Taft and Trey Anastasio. While going to boarding school at Taft in Watertown, Connecticut, he got the name from classmates when he appeared in a friend's dorm with orange goggles and draped in a tapestry, and saying otherworldly things. Michael Eliot Gordon (born June 3, 1965) is an American bass guitarist and vocalist most recognized as a founding member of the band Phish. "Fast Enough for You" is a 1993 song by the American band Phish. It is the second track from their 1993 concept album ''Rift'' and was released as their third promotional single by Elektra Records. The song is a slow-tempo ballad written by Phish guitarist and lead vocalist Trey Anastasio and lyricist Tom Marshall. The studio recording features a pedal steel guitar performed by Gordon Stone.
