Live Magnetic Air
''Live Magnetic Air'' is a live album by Canadian rock band Max Webster. It was recorded on 13 September 1979 at the Lyric Theatre in Kitchener and 14 September 1979 at War Memorial Hall in Guelph, with two shows played at each venue each night. The album was released on 22 October 1979 in Canada by Anthem Records and has been certified gold by the Canadian Recording Industry Association. The album was released in the United States on Capitol Records. In the United Kingdom a rare alternative to this release was made available. Seeing as Max Webster had two prior releases in the UK, Capitol-EMI released ''Magnetic Air'', which allowed new fans to hear some of the live portions of the North American released ''Live Magnetic Air'', as well as selections from the first two Max Webster releases ''Max Webster'' and ''High Class in Borrowed Shoes''. Max Webster
Max Webster was a Canadian hard rock band formed in Toronto in 1972. The band's founder, Kim Mitchell, enjoyed a long and successful solo career in their native Canada. Biography Initially a trio for their first gigs in December 1972, the original members were guitarist and vocalist Kim Mitchell, bassist Mike Tilka, and drummer Phil Trudell. The band were briefly called Stinky, then Special Delivery. They settled on Max Webster by early 1973, a name concocted by Tilka while playing with Daryl Stuermer in a Milwaukee band called Family at Mac's (Stuermer had written a song inspired by Ben Webster called "Song for Webster"). The line-up was augmented to a quartet in early 1973 with Jim Bruton being added on keyboards. Paul Kersey replaced Trudell in April 1973, and Terry Watkinson replaced Bruton in February 1974. Gary McCracken
Gary McCracken (born May 19, 1951, in Sarnia, Ontario) is a Canadian musician. He was drummer for the band Max Webster from 1976 to 1981, when the band dissolved. As a member of Max Webster, McCracken played on six studio albums and co-writer and lead vocalist for the band's hit 1979 single, "A Million Vacations". He also collaborated on "Battle Scar" with Rush and drummer Neil Peart in 1980. McCracken has also played with bands including Triumph, Wrabit, Klaatu, and released a solo album, ''Audioscapes'', in 2000. In 2007, McCracken was named 32nd on Q107's Top 40 Classic Rock Drummers of All Time. Mutiny Up My Sleeve
''Mutiny Up My Sleeve'' was the third album by Canadian rock band Max Webster. The record was released in 1978 in Canada by Anthem Records and in the United States and Europe by Capitol Records. The album was certified gold by the Canadian Recording Industry Association. Recording sessions began in late 1977 at Sounds Interchange with Terry Brown as co-producer, and resumed at Phase One Studios in early 1978 with bassist, Mike Tilka stepping in after Brown quit. The intro of "The Party" was recorded live at the Seneca College Field House in Toronto, Ontario on December 31, 1977, which was also Tilka's last gig with the band before being replaced by Dave Myles. In 1988 when the band's back catalog was re-released on CD, the original album cover was amended to include the phrase "Featuring Kim Mitchell" to capitalize on the success of Mitchell's post-Max Webster solo career. Pye Dubois
Pye Dubois is a Canadian lyricist and poet. He has worked mainly with Kim Mitchell and Max Webster (with whom he was considered an unofficial fifth non-performing member), and occasionally Rush. Kim Mitchell
Joseph Kim Mitchell (born July 10, 1952) is a Canadian rock musician. He was the lead singer and guitarist for the band Max Webster before going on to a solo career. His 1984 single, " Go for Soda", was his only charted song on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, reaching number 86. Several other singles such as "Patio Lanterns", "Rock and Roll Duty", and "Rockland Wonderland", reached the top 20 in Canada. Early life Mitchell attended St. Clair Secondary School in Sarnia. During the 1970s, Mitchell began playing with local bands in Sarnia. After going through a few name changes with essentially the same band, Mitchell and "Zooom" headed for Toronto, Ontario. Zooom eventually dissolved, with Mitchell travelling to the Greek islands. Career 1982–2003 On his return to Canada, he formed the band Max Webster with fellow Sarnia native Pye Dubois.
