Live 'n' Kickin'
''Live 'n' Kickin is a live album by the power trio West, Bruce and Laing, released in 1974. It was the band's third and final album, as their disbanding was announced shortly before its release. The album is noteworthy in that three of its four songs were not released in studio versions by the band. Specifically: * " Play with Fire" is a cover version of a song originally written and performed by The Rolling Stones, although West, Bruce and Laing's rendition uses the music for "Love is Worth the Blues," a song they previously wrote and recorded for their 1972 ''Why Dontcha'' debut album. * "Politician" is a cover of a song Jack Bruce originally wrote and performed with his previous band Cream. * "Powerhouse Sod" is a previously unreleased song featuring a bass guitar solo by Bruce. West, Bruce And Laing
West, Bruce & Laing (WBL) were a Scottish–American blues rock power trio super-group formed in 1972 by Leslie West (guitar and vocals; formerly of Mountain (band), Mountain), Jack Bruce (bass, harp, keyboards and vocals; ex-Cream (band), Cream), and Corky Laing (drums and vocals; ex-Mountain). The band released two studio albums, ''Why Dontcha'' (1972) and ''Whatever Turns You On (album), Whatever Turns You On'' (1973), during their active tenure. Their disbanding was officially announced in early 1974 prior to the release of their third and last album, ''Live 'n' Kickin'''. In 2009 West and Laing briefly relaunched the band, with Jack Bruce's son Malcolm substituting for his father on bass. Cream (band)
Cream were a British rock band formed in London in 1966. The group consisted of bassist Jack Bruce, guitarist Eric Clapton, and drummer Ginger Baker. Bruce was the primary songwriter and vocalist, although Clapton and Baker also sang and contributed songs. Formed from members of previously successful bands, they are widely regarded as the world's first supergroup. Cream were highly regarded for the instrumental proficiency of each of their members. Corky Laing
Laurence Gordon "Corky" Laing (born January 26, 1948) is a Canadian rock drummer, best known as a longtime member of pioneering American hard rock band Mountain. 20th century A native of Montreal, Quebec, Laing was the youngest in a family of five children. His eldest sister Carol was followed by triplet brothers, Jeffrey, Leslie, and Stephen, and then by Corky. According to Corky, his brothers called him "Gorky" because they could not pronounce his given name "Gordon". William George Wyman (né Perks; born 24 October 1936) is an English musician who achieved international fame as the bassist for the Rolling Stones from 1962 until 1993. Charlie Watts
Charles Robert Watts (2 June 1941 – 24 August 2021) was an English musician who achieved international fame as the drummer of the Rolling Stones from 1963 until his death in 2021. Originally trained as a graphic artist, Watts developed an interest in jazz at a young age and joined the band Blues Incorporated.
