''King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents Streets'' is a 1983 recording of a Streets concert. The album features Streets live on their first tour, which was in support of the debut album on Atlantic Records. While the band featured the familiar voice of then ex-Kansas lead singer Steve Walsh, who recorded five Top 40 hits with Kansas up to that point, Streets stuck with original tunes even in a live setting such as this. Steve Walsh (musician)
Steve Walsh (born June 15, 1951) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter best known for his work as a longtime member of the progressive rock band Kansas; he retired from the band in 2014. He sings lead on four of Kansas' best-known hits: "Carry On Wayward Son," "Dust in the Wind", "Point of Know Return", and " All I Wanted", the last two of which he co-wrote. Career Walsh was in a number of local groups prior to his joining Kansas, most notably the group White Clover that later merged with another band to form Kansas. White Clover toured frequently and developed their sound. They merged with another local band, also called Kansas, and were signed to Don Kirshner's label with the name Kansas. During Walsh's time with the band, Kansas recorded two commercially successful albums, 1976's ''Leftoverture'' and 1977's ''Point of Know Return''. Mike Slamer
Michael Chetwynd Slamer is a British guitarist. Biography Slamer started his career playing in the UK prog-rock band City Boy. Since then, he has worked as a staff composer for various movies and TV series, has been a session guitarist for numerous recording artists, and played in several bands. He provided the guitar solos on Warrant's first two albums, ''Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich'' and '' Cherry Pie''. He also contributed two solos on a Kix record. The songs were “Scarlet Fever” and “Walking Away.” He at different times cooperated with two members of the progressive rock band Kansas. With Steve Walsh he formed Streets, and with Billy Greer he created the band Seventh Key. Streets released two albums on the Atlantic label, ''1st'' (1983) and ''Crimes in Mind'' (1985). The ''King Biscuit Flower Hour'' was an American syndicated radio show presented by the D.I.R. Radio Network that featured concert performances by various rock music recording artists. History The program was broadcast on Sunday nights from 1973 until 1993. Following the end of original programming, the broadcast continued on Sunday nights until 2005, airing previously broadcast shows. During its prime, the program was carried by more than 300 radio stations throughout the United States. The show's name was derived from the influential blues radio show ''King Biscuit Time'', which was sponsored by the King Biscuit Flour Co., combined with the hippie phrase "flower power". Billy Greer
Billy Greer (born January 26, 1952) is an American musician, singer and songwriter known as the current bass guitarist for the band Kansas. He joined the band in their 1985 reformation, making his debut appearance on ''Power''. He had previously worked with Kansas keyboardist/vocalist Steve Walsh in the band Streets, and works with his own band Seventh Key when not performing with Kansas. He also was a member of the 2009 Kansas side project Native Window along with Kansas members Phil Ehart, Richard Williams, and David Ragsdale. In addition to performing, Greer manages his son's band 3 Story Fall and produces their music. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. Charles Randolph Goodrum (born July 7, 1947) is an American songwriter, pianist, and producer. Goodrum has written number one songs in each of the four decades since his first number one hit, 1978's "You Needed Me". Goodrum's songs have appeared on the country, pop, jazz, rock, R&B and adult contemporary charts. An accomplished pianist, his music has been used extensively in film and television. Streets was an American hard rock band made up of singer/keyboardist Steve Walsh, guitarist Mike Slamer, bassist Billy Greer, and drummer Tim Gehrt. They formed in 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Steve Walsh had been in the band Kansas and Mike Slamer has been in several other bands, including Britain's City Boy. He was also a session guitarist. Greer and Gehrt were regional players who had seen success with bands in Tennessee and Atlanta, respectively. Gehrt was working with ex- Deep Purple bassist Glenn Hughes when Walsh recruited him for Walsh's first solo effort, ''Schemer-Dreamer''. Walsh had noticed him when one of Gehrt's earlier bands had opened for Kansas. The two became friends and eventually spoke of forming a band together.
