Children's television series (or children's television shows) are television show, television programs designed for children, normally scheduled for broadcast during the morning and afternoon when children are awake. Staffan Ling
Staffan Ling (born 8 November 1944) is a Swedish actor and television presenter. Ling moved to Umeå to study humanities at the Umeå University during his early years, and became one of the founders of the local student theatre (Umeå Nya Studentteater) in 1964. He was a producer at Sveriges Radio and SVT in Umeå between 1971 and 1987. Amongst the shows he has presented is the quiz show ''Femettan'' broadcast on SVT, the comedy show ''Parlamentet'' and the game show ''Stadskampen'', both on TV4. Along with actor Bengt Andersson he participated in ''Sant och sånt'' from 1972 to 1987, a show for children featuring simple scientific and technical experiments and explanations of how things work. Through this show, the two became well established as the duo Staffan & Bengt. SVT2 (SVT Två; commonly referred to as Tvåan), is one of the two main television channels broadcast by Sveriges Television in Sweden. ''Marias barn'' ("''Maria's Child''") was the Sveriges Television's Christmas calendar in 1987. It was an animated series based on the New Testament stories of Virgin Mary's son, Jesus. Plot The stories are based on Danish writer Cecil Bødker's two novels, who in turn are based on the New Testament and other older stories about Jesus, as Cecil Bødker tried to reflect life in Ancient Egypt and Palestine upon the time Jesus was born. It follows the story all the way from the birth of Jesus to his crucifixion. It was narrated by Ulla Sjöblom and featured drawings by Bengt Arne Runnerström. The series was made in response to pressure for the Christmas calendar to feature more Christian content. ''Swedish Television's Christmas calendar'' ( sv, Sveriges Televisions julkalender) or ''Swedish Television's Advent calendar'' ( sv, Sveriges Televisions adventskalender) is a Christmas calendar TV series mainly for children, broadcast by Sveriges Television (Sweden's Television) since 1960 and has developed into an essential part of contemporary Swedish Christmas tradition. Every series consists of 24 episodes (with a few exceptions), broadcast daily 1–24 December. The theme for most series have some connection to Christmas. Prior to 1971, it was called ''Adventskalendern''.
