Liu Dawei
Liu Dawei (born 22 October 1945) is a Chinese painter who is a professor at the People's Liberation Army Academy of Art. He was president of the China Artists Association between 2008 and 2018. Biography Liu was born in Weifang, Shandong, on 22 October 1945, while his ancestral home is in Zhucheng. After the establishment of the Communist State, in 1951, his family moved to Baotou. As a child he developed an interesting in painting and studied calligraphy with his grandfather. In September 1963, he was accepted to Inner Mongolia Normal University, majoring in the Department of Arts. After graduating in December 1968, he was despatched to Baotou Semiconductor Device Factory as a fitter. In 1972, he was transferred to ''Baotou Daily'' as an art editor and journalist. In September 1978, he was admitted to the Central Academy of Fine Arts, studying paint under Li Keran, Li Kuchan, and Wu Zuoren. The China Artists Association (), originally the China National Art Workers' Association (), is the official national association of Chinese artists, with its headquarters in Beijing. It was established in July 1949, with Xu Beihong as its first chairman. Organization The China Artists Association is under the leadership of the Secretariat of the Chinese Communist Party, and managed by the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party. It previously operated provincial-level branches in all of China's provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, but in 1990 the provincial branches were reorganized into provincial artists associations and admitted into the national association as group members. Li Keran
Li Keran (; 26 March 1907 – 5 December 1989), art name Sanqi, was a contemporary Chinese '' guohua'' painter and art educator. Considered one of the most important Chinese artists in the latter half of the 20th century, he was also an influential professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts where he taught a generation of Chinese artists. Although trained in Western oil painting, he was known for his traditional literati paintings with influences from Qi Baishi and Huang Binhong, two renowned masters in Chinese painting. Li's paintings are highly valued at auctions, with several fetching hundreds of millions of yuan. His personal auction record was set by ''Thousands of Hills in a Crimsoned View'' (also translated as ''Landscape in Red''), one of his most celebrated works, which sold for (US$46 million) in June 2012. The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC, zh, 中国人民政治协商会议), also known as the People's PCC (, ) or simply the PCC (), is a political advisory body in the People's Republic of China and a central part of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s United Front system. Its members advise and put proposals for political and social issues to government bodies. However, the CPPCC is a body without real legislative power. While consultation does take place, it is supervised and directed by the CCP. Baotou
Baotou (; mn, Buɣutu qota, Бугат хот) is the largest city by urban population in Inner Mongolia, China. Governed as a prefecture-level city, as of the 2020 census, its built-up (''or metro'') area made up of its 5 urban districts is home to 2,261,089 people with a total population of 2,709,378 accounting for counties under its jurisdiction. The city's namesake, literally translated to "place with deer", is of Mongolic origin or "Lucheng" (), meaning "City of Deer". Alternatively Baotou is known as the "City of Steel in Gobi" (). Fan Di'an (; born September 1955) is a Chinese painter currently serving as president of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and China Artists Association. Biography Fan was born in Fujian in September 1955. He secondary studied at Pucheng County No.1 High School. During the late Cultural Revolution, he was a sent down youth between 1973 and 1977. After the resumption of college entrance examination in 1977, he was accepted to the Fujian Normal University. After graduation, he taught at the university. He joined the Communist Party of China in April 1979. In 1985, he was admitted to Central Academy of Fine Arts, and worked at the university since 1988. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Victoria from 1992 to 1993. In 2005, he was appointed president of the National Art Museum of China.
