Littleton, County Tipperary
Littleton () is a village in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is within the townlands of Ballybeg and Ballydavid, about northeast of Cashel and to the southeast of Thurles. By-passed by the M8 in December 2008, Littleton lies at a crossroads on the R639 road. Its population was 394 at the 2016 census. It is in the barony of Eliogarty. Littleton is closely associated with Bord na Móna, a semi-state company that harvests peat in the nearby complex of raised bogs. Littleton is also home to the 'Moycarkey Band', the Seán Treacy Pipe Band. History St. Ruadhan of Lorrha founded a monastery on a raised island in the middle of the bog at Littleton. Its staff and ratepayers navigate busking licence auditions, animal control officers convinced they are in the mob and Mayors with delusions of grandeur, while its municipal rooms-for-hire lure wildly inappropriate dance teachers, dubious self-improvement classes and harangued relationship counsellors. Littleton is a town in Halifax County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 674 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Littleton was named after William Little, a state senator at the time of founding. In 1882, Littleton College for women was founded with an initial enrollment of eleven students. The college became relatively successful with a peak enrollment of 285 in 1908. On January 22, 1919, the college was destroyed by fire, and without an endowment, it was never rebuilt. Person's Ordinary and St. Alban's Episcopal Church are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally Littleton was divided between the counties of Warren and Halifax, but on July 1, 1974 an election was made to make Littleton only to be a part of Halifax County. Littleton is a census-designated place (CDP) and the main village in the town of Littleton in Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 4,467 at the 2020 census, out of 6,005 in the entire town. Geography The CDP is in the eastern part of the town of Littleton, on both sides of the Ammonoosuc River and extending north to include Parker Mountain. The CDP is bordered to the southeast by the town of Bethlehem and to the southwest by Interstate 93. The northern boundary of the CDP, starting at Interstate 93, follows West Main Street, Brickyard Road, Fox Ridge Road, Farr Hill Road, Broomstick Hill Road, Manns Hill Road and Fowler Brook to the Bethlehem town line just north of the Ammonoosuc River.
