Little River National Wildlife Refuge
The Little River National Wildlife Refuge is a National Wildlife Refuge of the United States located in Oklahoma. It covers of forests and wetlands. The refuge contains most of the remaining Upland and lowland (freshwater ecology), bottomland hardwood communities in the southeastern part of the state. It is characterized by low, wet oak and hickory forest with Oxbow lake, oxbows and slough (hydrology), sloughs. Trees of the landscape include hickory, Quercus phellos, willow oak, Liquidambar, sweetgum, cypress, Quercus alba, white oak, Pinus taeda, loblolly pine, and juglans, walnut. ''Quercus phellos'', the willow oak, is a North American species of a deciduous tree in the red oak group of oaks. It is native to the south-central and eastern United States.
