''Little Mary Sunshine'' is a 1916 silent movie directed by Henry King. Plot Abandoned by her drunken father after he beats her mother to death, 5-year-old Mary finds refuge in a car where she falls asleep. The car belongs to Bob Daley, a young man who has made the mistake of celebrating his engagement by getting drunk with his friends and then lying about it to Sylvia, his fiancée. Sylvia does not approve of his conduct and throws him out of the house, breaking up with him. Despondent, Bob staggers to his car where he finds the sleeping child. The two become friends and Bob brings the little girl to his house. Moved by her tragic story, Bob decides to quit drinking and become a serious and responsible parent. Sylvia, affected by the change, is reconciled with her boyfriend, and the couple decide that once they are married, they will adopt little Mary. ''Little Mary Sunshine'' is a musical that parodies old-fashioned operettas and musicals. The book, music, and lyrics are by Rick Besoyan. The original Off-Broadway production premiered November 18, 1959 at the Orpheum Theatre in New York City's East Village. Staying in the neighborhood, it moved to the Player's Theatre on June 21, 1961, then, finally, to the Cherry Lane Theatre on March 21, 1962. Closing was Sept. 2, 1962. Combined run was 1,143 performances. It was seen briefly in a West End production in 1962 and has become a popular show for amateur and semi-professional groups in the United States and elsewhere. Robert Curtis Vaughn (born June 8, 1945) is an American former football offensive guard who played one game in the American Football League (AFL) for the Denver Broncos. He played college football at Ole Miss and was selected in the third round (75th overall) of the 1968 NFL/AFL Draft. Early life and education Vaughn was born in Memphis, Tennessee on June 8, 1945. He attended East High School in Memphis and was a two-sport star, being both a highly-regarded football prospect and a top track athlete, specializing in hurdling.
