Ian McNabb
Robert Ian McNabb (born 3 November 1960) is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Previously the frontman of The Icicle Works, McNabb has since embarked on a solo career and performed with Ringo Starr, Neil Young/Crazy Horse, Mike Scott (of The Waterboys), and Danny Thompson of folk band Pentangle. McNabb's first book, an autobiography entitled ''Merseybeast'', was published in October 2008. Early life Robert Ian McNabb was born in Lourdes Hospital (now Spire Liverpool Hospital) in Mossley Hill, Liverpool, the first and only child of Patricia (née Forsyth) and Robert Gerard McNabb. At 18 months old he contracted pneumonia, leaving him with a damaged left lung. He had a brief stint as a child model, and a resultant photo was later featured on the album art of '' Potency: The Best of Ian McNabb''. Great Things (album)
''Great Things'' is the title of Ian McNabb's 8th solo album. The album officially produced no singles, although promotional singles of 'New Light' were pressed. Critical reception Although the album failed to chart, it was highly praised by reviewers. Pete Whalley, writing for Getreadytorock.com said " Great Things demonstrates not only what a quality writer / performer McNabb is, but also serves to demonstrate how lightweight some of the current crop of singer songwriters are". Record Collector Magazine's Terry Staunton concluded that the "Tongue... in cheek" title of 'I Can't Help It If I'm Great' was "undeniably true" (In reference to McNabb), giving the album 4/5 stars. ''Eclectic Warrior'' is Ian McNabb's tenth solo album, released on Monday, 18 March 2013. The album features backing band Cold Shoulder, formed from previous Liverpool bands The Black Velvets The Black Velvets were a rock band from Liverpool, England. The band formed in 2003 and disbanded in August 2007 after releasing one album. History The Black Velvets were formed in 2003 by guitarist Robbie Ross, drummer Nick Kilroe, and cousins ... and The Aeroplanes. PledgeMusic and release The album was marketed as a PledgeMusic project, asking fans to 'pledge' for different rarities, concert tickets and versions of the album. Anyone making a pledge on the site would receive a minimum of a "New Full Band Electric Album download + updates". 5% of any money raised after the goal is reached would go to Teenage Cancer Trust.
