The ''Little Dark Age'' Tour is a concert tour by American rock band MGMT, in support of their fourth studio album, ''Little Dark Age'' (2018). The tour began on January 30, 2018 in Berlin, Germany. The tour features several performances at music festivals, including NOS Alive, Splendour in the Grass, and Fuji Rock Festival. MGMT
MGMT () is an American indie rock band formed in 2002 in Middletown, Connecticut. It was founded by multi-instrumentalists Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser. Alongside VanWyngarden and Goldwasser, MGMT's live lineup currently consists of drummer Will Berman, bassist Simon O'Connor, and guitarist and keyboard James Richardson. Originally signed to Cantora Records by the nascent label's co-founder, NYU undergrad Will Griggs, MGMT later signed with Columbia and RED Ink in 2006 and released their debut album '' Oracular Spectacular'' the next year. After the release of ''Oracular Spectacular'' Richardson, Berman and Matthew Asti joined the core band in the studio for ''Congratulations,'' which was released on April 13, 2010. "Little Dark Age" is a song by American rock band MGMT. It was released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, ''Little Dark Age'', on October 17, 2017, through Columbia Records. In an interview with ''Newsweek'', Andrew VanWyngarden, the lead vocalist, guitar player and songwriter for the band stated that 1980s Soviet synth-pop was influential to the song. Release Leading up to the song's release, the band made several posts on their social media hyping up the album and then upcoming single. On October 12, 2017, the band posted a video clip of the beginning instrumental of the song to their social media with the caption "#LittleDarkAge". "Me and Michael" (stylized as Me & Michael) is a song by American rock band MGMT. It is the fourth single taken from the band's fourth studio album ''Little Dark Age''. It was released worldwide on February 7, 2018, through Columbia. Background The song was heavily influenced by English electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD). Talking to '' Q'', the band discussed the origin of the titular "Michael" with Ben Goldwasser saying the original refrain was written as "me and my girl," but decided it was "so boring and cheesy" and decided to change it into "me and Michael." Goldwasser said this "developed into this ambiguous story, and we really liked that – writing a catchy song that gets you pumped-up, but you have no idea what the message is." "Alien Days" is the first single released from ''MGMT,'' the third album by MGMT, which was released as a cassette single on April 20, 2013. VanWyngarden explains the song as the feeling when "a parasitic alien is in your head, controlling things".
