Bill Gaither (blues Musician)
William Arthur Gaither (April 21, 1910 – October 30, 1970), sometimes known as "Little Bill" Gaither or Leroy's Buddy, was an American blues guitarist and singer. Biography Born in Belmont, Bullitt County, Kentucky, Gaither recorded over one hundred songs in the 1930s for labels such as Decca and Okeh. He often wrote and recorded with the pianist George "Honey" Hill. After his friend Leroy Carr's death in 1935, Gaither was often credited as "Leroy's Buddy". One of Gaither's most famous blues songs was "Champ Joe Louis", recorded on June 23, 1938, the day after Louis won his rematch against Max Schmeling. The blues scholar Paul Oliver has cited Gaither among a group of important, but understudied, 20th century musicians. Bill Johnston (tennis)
William Marquitz "Little Bill" Johnston (November 2, 1894 – May 1, 1946) was an American World-number-one male tennis-player rankings, world No. 1 tennis player. Biography Bill Johnston was born November 2, 1894, in San Francisco, the son of Robert Johnston, an electrical plant mechanic and Margaret Burns, of Irish origin. Johnston started to play tennis in early 1906, aged 11, on the public asphalt courts in Golden Gate Park. After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the schools were closed, and he spent much of his spare time practicing on the tennis courts. He achieved his first tournament victory at the 1910 Bay Counties junior singles competition. In 1916, Johnston won the Cincinnati Open (now Cincinnati Masters) after Clarence Griffin defaulted in the challenge round. Johnston won the Longwood Challenge Cup, played on the Longwood Courts at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts in 1913, 1916, 1919, 1920 and 1921. During World War I, Johnston served in the U.S. Navy. Bill Raidler
Bill Raidler, known as "Little Bill" Raidler ( - 1904) was an American outlaw of the Old West, and member of the Doolin-Dalton gang. Raidler was born William F. Raidler in Pennsylvania, and raised to be an educated man. However he had an adventurous side, and drifted down to Texas where he became a cowboy, then eventually ventured up to Oklahoma Territory, where he met Bill Doolin. He joined Doolin's gang around 1892. He was involved in numerous bank robberies and train robberies, as well as a number of shootouts with lawmen. On September 6, 1895, Raidler was trailed to a hideout in Oklahoma by Deputy US Marshal Bill Tilghman. Raidler engaged Tilghman and his two deputies in a gunbattle, and was shot in the wrist by Tilghman. As he attempted to flee, Tilghman shot him two more times, once in the back and once in the neck. Bill Sowders
William Jefferson "Little Bill" Sowders (November 29, 1864 – February 2, 1951) was a professional baseball player. He was a right-handed pitcher over parts of three seasons (1888–1890) with the Boston Beaneaters and Pittsburgh Alleghenys. For his career, he compiled a 29–30 record in 71 appearances, with a 3.34 earned run average and 205 strikeouts. Sowders was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and later died in Indianapolis at the age of 86. J. William "Little Bill" Standifer (1853 - October 4, 1903) was an American gunman and lawman of the Old West. He is best remembered for having been killed by noted and better known gunman John Higgins in 1903. Early life and notoriety He was born J. William Standifer in Burnet County, Texas, and raised in Lampasas County, Texas, working cattle. By the age of 14, he was working regularly as a cowboy. That year, when he came across four men rustling cattle, he was pistol whipped by the men and badly hurt, but survived. Despite his youth, he tracked all four men, and killed them one by one. Although charges were pursued, he was acquitted. In April 1879, Standifer was working as a cowboy on the ''Ike Mullins Ranch'', in Tom Green County, Texas, where he came into contact with another cowboy, John McMahon, sometimes called John Mahon. ''Little Bill'' is an American animated educational television series created by Bill Cosby. It is based on the ''Little Bill'' book series, written by Cosby with illustrations by Varnette P. Honeywood. Cosby also composed some of the theme music, appeared in live-action in the show's intro sequence, and voiced the recurring character of Captain Brainstorm. It was Cosby's second animated series, after ''Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids''. The show's main character, Little Bill, was inspired by both Cosby's childhood and by his late son, Ennis Cosby. The Deddick River is a perennial river of the Snowy River catchment, located in the Alpine region of the Australian state of Victoria. Course and features The Deddick River rises below Mount Little Bill in a remote alpine wilderness area within the Snowy River National Park, and flows generally north leaving the national park, then northwest through the locality of Tubbut, and then west southwest. The river is joined by the Bonang River and sixteen minor tributaries, before reaching its confluence with the Snowy River in the Snowy River National Park below Mount Bulla Bulla, a few hundred metres north of the McKillops Bridge in the Shire of East Gippsland.
