Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society
Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society ( lt, Lietuvos nacionalinė filharmonija) is a concert agency headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania. Established in 1940 as State Philharmonic of the Lithuanian SSR, it has operated continuously since then with the exception of 1943. The society was designated a national cultural institution in July 1998. Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (LNOBT) ( lt, Lietuvos nacionalinis operos ir baleto teatras) is an opera house and ballet theatre in Vilnius, Lithuania. It is the largest theatre of the country, committed to organising the creation and production of scenic works for musical theatre and assuring their public performance on the highest artistic level. Balys Dvarionas ( in Liepāja — 23 August 1972 in Vilnius), was a Soviet and Lithuanian composer, pianist, conductor and educator. Dvarionas first became known as a composer after World War II. His works are in a romantic vein, with roots in folk song. Biography Balys Dvarionas was born into the large family of an organist. Along with his ten sisters and brothers, Dvarionas was taught music from his early childhood. Later he had private lessons from Alfrēds Kalniņš, the famous Latvian composer. After completing the middle school of commerce, Dvarionas worked as an organist and conductor of the Youth Choir of Lithuanian Society in Liepāja. In 1920, Dvarionas went to Leipzig, where he studied piano under Robert Teichmüller at the Conservatory and attended special music theory and composition courses held by Stephan Krehl and Sigfrid Karg-Elert. A margarita is a cocktail consisting of Tequila, triple sec, and lime juice often served with salt on the rim of the glass. Juozas Domarkas (born 28 July 1936) is a Lithuanian musician, music teacher and conductor, and a professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA). Life Domarkas was born in Varkaliai, Nausodis eldership, Plungė District Municipality. From 1955 to 1960 he studied the clarinet at the Lithuanian Conservatory (forerunner of the present LMTA) and in 1965 he studied conducting at the Leningrad Conservatory with Ilya Musin. In 1963 he trained in Moscow with Igor Markevitch. From 1964 Domarkas was artistic director and principal conductor of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra in Vilnius. From 1968 he has taught at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre where since 1995 he has also held the professorship of conducting in the music faculty.
