Kyoto Prize(U-S-A-) 2013-11-03 17-37
The is Japan's highest private award for lifetime achievement in the arts and sciences. It is given not only to those that are top representatives of their own respective fields, but to "those who have contributed significantly to the scientific, cultural, and spiritual betterment of mankind". The Kyoto Prize was created in collaboration with the Nobel Foundation and is regarded by many as Japan's version of the Nobel Prize, representing one of the most prestigious awards available in fields that are not traditionally honored with a Nobel. The prizes are endowed with 100 million yen (roughly 800,000 USD) per category and have been awarded annually since 1985 by the Inamori Foundation, founded by Kazuo Inamori. Absa L’Atelier Art Competition
The Absa L'Atelier Art Competition is a South African annual art award for South African visual artists between the ages of 21 and 35. The competition is run in conjunction with the South African National Association for the Visual Arts (SANAVA). History The art award was originally known as the Volkskas Bank Atelier Competition and was established in 1986 and kept this name up to 1998 (when Volkskas was incorporated into the Absa Group). From 1999 to 2001 the award was known as the Absa Atelier competition. From 2004 the Gerard Sekoto award was added to the competition, to support the most promising artist taking part in the competition with an income of less than R60 000 per annum. This award is supported by the French Embassy, the French Institute and Alliance Française. Leonardo Da Vinci World Award Of Arts
The Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts has been established by the World Cultural Council (Mexico) to acknowledge those who offer a positive message to mankind through different expressions of art. It is conferred upon "artist, sculptor, writer, poet, cinematographer, photographer, architect, musician or other performing artist, whose work constitutes a significant contribution to the artistic legacy of the world". The award has been presented biennially since 1999. The qualifying jury is constituted of internationally renowned artists, authorities, and members of the World Cultural Council. The prize consists of a diploma, a commemorative medal and US$10,000. The award is named after Leonardo da Vinci. World Cultural Council
The World Cultural Council is an international organization whose goals are to promote cultural values, goodwill and philanthropy among individuals. The organization founded in 1981 and based in Mexico, has held a yearly award ceremony since 1984 by granting the Albert Einstein World Award of Science, the José Vasconcelos World Award of Education, and the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts to outstanding scientists, educators, and artists, who have contributed positively to the cultural enrichment of mankind. The members of the Council include several Nobel laureates. M&C Fine Arts Awards
The M&C Fine Arts Award is an award given to artists in Saint Lucia, currently run by the Cultural Development Foundation. The Awards began in 1979. Awards are given out in visual, literary and performing arts, and there is also a Joe Devaux Lifetime Award. The Cultural Development Foundation assumed responsibility in 2004, when M&C handed it over after twenty five years of successful recognising the contribution of individuals and groups to the artistic-scape of St. Lucia. Musgrave Medal
The Musgrave Medal is an annual award by the Institute of Jamaica in recognition of achievement in art, science, and literature.Webster, Valerie J. Originally conceived in 1889 and named in memory of Sir Anthony Musgrave, the founder of the Institute and the former Governor of Jamaica who had died the previous year, the medal was the first to be awarded in the Western Hemisphere. The medals were initially awarded as prizes in a cultural competition. In 1941 the Gold Medal was initiated and awarded in recognition of a "distinguished eminence". The first recipient of the gold medal was artist Edna Manley in recognition of her work promoting art and literature. Pablo Neruda Order Of Artistic And Cultural Merit
The Pablo Neruda Order of Artistic and Cultural Merit ( es, Orden al Mérito Artístico y Cultural Pablo Neruda) was created in 2004 by the National Council of Culture and the Arts of the government of Chile, as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda (12 July 1904). It is granted by the Minister of Culture to those national and international figures who have stood out for contributions made in the field of art and culture. The Pablo Neruda Order of Merit was delivered for the first time on 5 July 2004 to the mayor of Barcelona, Joan Clos, and about 15 Ibero-American artists—among them, Miguel Bosé, Joan Manuel Serrat, Víctor Manuel, Ana Belén, Jorge Drexler, Julieta Venegas, and —who participated in the musical tribute that took place at the Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona. PIPA Prize
PIPA Prize is a Brazilian arts award of the PIPA Institute. From 2010 to 2018, PIPA had a partnership with the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro – MAM-Rio. In 2019, the PIPA Prize's exhibition was held at Villa Aymoré, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The prize was created to promote Brazilian art and artists by stimulating the domestic contemporary art production; motivating and supporting new (but not necessarily young) Brazilian artists. Although it supports up-and-coming artists, the PIPA Prize's goal is not to discover new talents, but to recognize new Brazilian contemporary artists that already have a critical following and a place in the art market.
