Akim
An ''akim'' ( kk, әкім, әкімдер / ''äkimder''; ky, аким; russian: аким) is the head of a local government in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. ''Akim'', meaning "God will establish", is derived from the Arabic word '' hakim'', which means "ruler" or "governor". Definitions Kazakhstan In Kazakhstan, an ''äkim'' is the head of an ''akimat'', a municipal, district, or provincial government (''akimat''), and serves as the Presidential representative. ''Äkims'' of provinces and cities are appointed to the post by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, the ''äkims'' of other administrative and territorial units are appointed or selected to the post in an order defined by the President. He may also dismiss äkims from their posts. Karaganda Region
Karaganda Region ( kk, Qarağandy oblysy; russian: Карагандинская область, translit=Karagandinskaja oblast′), also spelled Qaraghandy Region, is a region of Kazakhstan. Its capital is Karaganda. On 17 March 2022 it was announced that Karaganda would be divided, with the formation of the Ulytau Region. This officially came into force on 8 June 2022. History The region was the site of intense coal mining during the days of the Soviet Union and also the site of several Gulag forced labor camps. Following World War II, Joseph Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union, had many ethnic Germans deported to the area. There have been constant border changes within the region's history. The first took place in 1954 when it was ceded parts of Kustanay Oblast and parts of Taldy-Kurgan Oblast. Nurlan Nigmatulin
Nurlan Zairollauly Nigmatulin (, born 31 August 1962) is a Kazakh politician who served as the Chair of the Mazhilis from 22 June 2016 to 1 February 2022 and from 20 January 2012 to 3 April 2014. Serik Akhmetov
Serik Nyghmetuly Akhmetov ( kk, Серік Нығметұлы Ахметов, translit=Serık Nyğmetūly Ahmetov, ; born 25 June 1958) was a Prime Minister of Kazakhstan from 2012 to 2014. Äbilgazy Qaliaqparuly Qusaiynov (, ''Äbılğazy Qaliaqparūly Qūsaiynov,'' ; born 6 February 1952) is a Kazakh politician who served as a Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan from 2013 to 2017.
